Edited by: Tai Paktu on 28/01/2009 06:20:11 Let's take a quick look at the leadership skills in EvE.
Armored Warfare - 2% bonus to armor HP.
Cool, I like moar armor. Always nice for RR gangs and general survivability on armor tanks.
Siege Warfare - 2% bonus to shield capacity.
Alright, I'm no shield tanker but this is the equivalent to the armor skill for you guys. So still cool.
Skirmish Warfare - 2% bonus to agility.
Granted, it's not the greatest bonus out there but agility is very important these days for ships to be able to maintain high velocity orbits at close ranges. So pretty good.
Information Warfare - 2% bonus to targeting range.
wut?
Now it's not altogether useless, I'll admit that. Assuming the standard(ish) range of 180km for most BS sniper fleets, it does have some value as it allows the Rokh (sniper BS randomly chosen) to target to 198km with one Sensor Booster II, range scripted. Without the skill, the Rokh targets 180km exactly, making a target at 181km untouchable. You then waste a mid putting in a non-scripted SB which lets you target out to the edge of the grid, which is a case of diminishing returns for sure. Especially when the Info War 5'd Rokh can now fit a Tracking Computer or other useful mod.
All that having been said, I'd much prefer a bonus to something like sensor strength. I think that would lend itself to more use over a variety of situations as opposed to the very specific situation I mention where targeting range really benefits. Obviously not the most pressing balance issue in EvE, but food for thought.
fakeedit:
Alternatively, we can take a look at the bonuses from the racial Titans and getting them in-line with the commands or vice versa. Currently, the bonuses are capacitor for the Avatar, shields for the Leviathon, sig radius for the Ragnarok and Armor for the Erebus. If these are the command bonuses from the titans, why don't they reflect the command bonuses that are racial specific. For example, why does the Erebus give armor when the Eos gets bonuses to Information Warfare? Debate!

Cant answer your titan question, however the skill "Leadership" gives a 2% bonus per level to scan resolution. Additionally, a sensor strength bonus wouldnt be as "universally effective" as the locking range bonus happens to be, as the sensor strength serves a far more specific purpose.

What are you doing crapping up my thread Nnam? I also seem to have forgotten that Leadership doesn't just let you take sqaudrons. So now I look dumb in my own thread. \o/
Alright, so it doesn't change the quesiton all that much. Scratch the scan res suggestion. What else is (more) useful than targeting range?

Although I have no problems with Information Warfare as is, could be fun if it ALSO boosted sensor strengths (since those are generally seen as worthless).
So Info Warfare would boost locking range + sensor strength. Hello anti-falcon fleet :-D |

i like the idea if -2% per level to sig radious maybe a reduction in mass could be usefull also a bonus to capacitor amount would be helpfull a bonus to all resistances, this may possibly give our friends and our drones a little more survivability???
i would prefer something that gives bonus to res to all fleet ships and drones or fighters but maybe sig radious would be my second pick! |
