Both Gallente and Caldari are solid options, but now it comes down to what your plans with them are. I'm going Matari because Matari looks kickass, but I say go Caldari because of the remote energy transfers that let you transfer between carriers, and it has a resist bonus, ideal for fleet fights. Gallente are handy for the fighter bonus, but only if you are controlling the fighters yourself. Thus, Gallente are good for bashing POSs, battleships or larger. I do say fit 1 remote rep and DCUs if you go that option, but you're a carrier and not there for damage. The main plus I see with the Thanatos is the shield and armor rep, but I would go niddy in that case.
TLDR: Caldari then Matari if you want to shield tank, Amarr then Thanny if you want to armor tank.
After all, everyone needs some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

I've seen more thannys myself, and I'm not sure why. I suppose it's because everyone in PvP armor tanks and nobody likes flying Minmatar ships BS sized and bigger because they are supposed to suck, and hey it's got a drone bonus the other ships don't have, which means more DPS! Thus all Gallente train for the Thanny, all Amarr train for the Archon. It's something I disagree with except for the Naglfar (thing needs +CPU/-grid to fit a decent shield tank), but maybe the drone bonus for the bored ratting carrier?
After all, everyone needs some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

The nid is the best remote repper, and has a superior tank to the Thanny (as far as resist goes, EHP is lower because the Thanny has more armor/hull than shield while the Niddy has its shield/armor/hull spread evenly). I do not think the bonuses make up for the resist bonuses Amarr/Caldari get, but if you aren't being shot at as Amarr/Caldari then those bonuses are wasted, while the Thanny bonuse is almost always useful, and the Niddy bonus is useful 100% of the time.

Pirate Killran liked camping the 4C stations in his Moros/Thanny. Of course, he lost it one day to us when he sieged it, so I guess he didn't live after all. |
