Hey guys. I'm suiting up to get an AF. I'm a little stumped.
Which is the best all around Af between the 2 and Why is that? I really enjoy the vengances' cap regen and armor resistances, a few plates and its a great tank.
Retribution, Lazer cannon all the way.
I just want to know what to spend my money on. |

Retribution has way too few mid slots imo. Depends on use tho. PvP, or PvE? |

Don't buffer tank the Vengeance, give it a dual SAR setup and you've got yourself a tackler that doesn't know how to die. |

The Retribution, since it sucks marginally less. The Vengeance is one of the worst ships in the game, with mediocre tank, no ability to fit MWD/24k, and laughably bad dps. Anything the Vengeance can do, another AF can do better. The Retribution, as terrible as it is, at least has the ability to kill other frigates. But neither one is worth flying, train for an Ishkur, Harpy or Jaguar. |

Well, I will be doing P vs E initially. I would like something that can take on lvl 3 missions with no real issues. Once im more skilled I will move on to P v P |

Well, there is no need to wait to PvP, the best you can do is jump into say a punisher and go out in low sec and shoot at noobie ratters. That will get you the basic hang of PvP'ing and can be done in cheap T1 frigs. Persoanlly I used a rifter for this, but I have used a nice blaster punisher setup as well.
But later on, as Meris says, MWD is importent, as is the ability to get a point on your enemies.
For PvE however I would use a BC for thoose level 3 misison to get them done faster. An AF can be used. But I have too little expereince in Amarr AF's, tho a retribution only needs an AB in missions and got best dps, so probartly that one. |

Vengance is a great medium tackler able to survive but with little low DPS. PvE realy insane level 2 ship.
Retribution has nice DPS (200 with my skills and 2 HS but can get about 258 max) or great frig-sniper range (can get over 50 KM opti).
I use it for 0.0 ratting and reach between 3,7 to 4m every 20 minutes against Sanshas :).
AB, 4*MP II, 2*HS II, EM/THERM passive hardeners, SAR II.
So I don't know why people call them "bad". They are fine as they are, medium-tackler and frig-killer both in small/medium gangs.
And both are perfect for level 2th :) |

In a straight out fight the retri will wipe out the vengence due to its firepower. However the vengence makes a far better tackler.
Personaly I love the retribution, a pair of them working togther, one with a web the other a warp disruptor or scrambler makes a great team.
pve a single retri will rip apart any lvl 2 mission with ease. |

Retribution makes a good gang DPS platform, but for the ISK, you could hit harder, have a better tank and actually tackle something in another ship. |

SAR, EANM, therm resist(0 cpu), CPR or ANP
2.2kms tackler, decent tank, good for lowsec. |

Yeah... I've toyed with tank setups on a Vengeance that can get over 300dps tanked... add in the super small sig and 
Don't plate it! Also, you should try playing with other weapon types on it, rockets do less dps than pretty much anything else you can fit on it, and ion blasters aren't hard to manage even with the cap use
Retribution... in an AF gang, fit a MWD in it's one mid slot and Pulse lasers with Scorch can ruin most interceptors days  |
