Edited by: Pulgor on 01/08/2004 00:02:59 Want to have an intellegent discussion or excange of ideas without the sleeze of a Gallente pleasure hub? Come to the Salon -- The Salon, Dignity is on us.
Rules: - Be civil. No mudslinging or trolling, there are other channels for that. - All races welcome! (Provided they follow the above) - Debates and agressive debates are ok, so long as it dosn't degenerate into a name calling match - Again, be civil.
The channel name is "Salon". That's it! So come and enjoy. If you're on a long haul from 0.0 to Amarr or patroling PRM gates, pass the time at The Salon!

So you're a beautician now? Or have you just taken up hairdressing?

Neither Makkar!
In the language of the old ones, a Salon was defined as follows:
1.) A large room, such as a drawing room, used for receiving and entertaining guests. 2.) A periodic gathering of people of social or intellectual distinction.
Besides, what would a bald man know about cutting hair? -----------------------------------

And, from the very same dictionary, it's common parlance meaning:
A commercial establishment offering a product or service related to fashion: a beauty salon.
But hey, who's counting? Have fun in your new Chanel... Erm... Channel.
Hardin with his hair in curlers, wearing a facepack... Makk shudders.

Edited by: Pulgor on 01/08/2004 04:10:54 Makkar, yes it can mean that but the reason it was not included in my definitions is because you and I both know that's not the definition I was going for!
Now stop being overly critical.

Edited by: Llannat Domina on 01/08/2004 05:24:55 In the 17th and 18th century of old Earth, European Salons were created. They were usually led by influential and noble women who would invite a group of philosophers to her parlor to discuss their works and studies. They were considered very important to the European Enlightenment and Romantic movement. Though later in Germany and France, the poor also got into salons. The women were instrumental in mainting civility in a volatile culture where a disagreement of ideas could lead to dueling. God's love and word come from god, NOT through a man or chains.

I'd bet Hardin prefers the sleaze of a Gallente pleasure hub without the intelligent discussion or exchange of ideas
Good luck with your new channel, Pulgor -------------------- "My dear, I'm going to have a pretty lonely walk between this and Kingdom Come. Won't you give me one kiss? It'll be something to keep off the darkness now and then."

Earth? Hahaha... You believe in Earth? Oh that's too much... do you believe in the toothfairy, too?
Hehehe... Oh, you Amarrians...
Okay, okay... I accept that the Eve Gate has to lead somewhere, and where it leads may as well be called Earth, because we don't actually know one way or another, do we... But to start making up a history, beliefs, countries, peoples and customs for an entirely fictional world? What are you, some kind of sad roleplayer or something?!

Maybe the EVE gate leads to a robotic paradise free of scummy humans and their scummy human problems.
There is a distinct 90% probability that this is untrue, but a robot must beable to dream dammit! ______________________________

Your previous owner should have given you at least a little more education. I suppose we won't find many mimatars in the Salon. Their only "new" ideas are stolen from Amarrian scientists. Even their ships look like the battered remains of multiple Amarr ships welded together. Though i do hope a few of you do venture in. I am sure the stupified and slightly drooling expressions will at least offer some humor to the room.
I can't wait to explore the concepts developed in this new room. I have been hoping to share my most current research. Using percise measuring tools and some of my Mimatar slaves I have come to the conclusion that the Minmatar brain is 50% less developed than the Amarrian brain. But i don't want to get too far into it at the moment. God's love and word come from god, NOT through a man or chains.

Just to clarify (or maybe confuse) matters slightly "Salon" is a Gallente word for a drinking establishment. The equivalent Amarrian word is "Saloon". Amarrians tend to use the one "o" word to describe beauty parlours. Some Udorians also use "Saloon" to describe a type of planetary vehicle.
And Hardin, you like getting dragged into sordid discussions
