I've heard this around other forums but can't get a solid yaay or nay, so was wondering whether it's true. Corps listed on this site under world of eve, do not have any TII parts listed as being bought or sold as has always been the case, so it doesn't make identifying convoys carrying which parts any easier if this is the case.

Aren't Superconductors trade goods, which some corps list as being bought/sold? Is the only way to take on convoys in empire now to use a battleship at 150km from sentries?

No... Superconductors are tech II components, also you can take on convoys from a frigate all you have to do is stay 75km from sentrys, and if the convoy's are from the station your right next too, you have to be 150km. ................. |

Actually, you only need to be 60km away from the guns if the station and convoy belong to the same corporation. Sentries will not fire on you under any circumstances if the convoy belongs to a corporation other than the station you are near.

You are correct.
Quote: No... Superconductors are tech II components
Oh so wrong.
Superconductors might be required to build some tech II items but they are a regular trade good. Been on the market long before tech II was a glimmer in our eyes. Long time ago you used to need to buy superconductors to complete a mission to get an implant, you should have seen the price for them then.

No - Superconductors are a TRADE GOOD, been around since before Tech2 was released. Yes you do need Superconductors as a component in order to build Tech2 Smartbombs but they are only a trade good.
Superconductor Rails are the Tech2 component and to my knowledge are currently useless till whatever they are intended to be used for is released. ( probably tech2 hybrids)

Oh yea and on the Convoy thing:
1) You already doing it the right way, what is listed on website as items corp supplies are the only items that "may" drop when you kill a convoy from that corp.
2) No convoy at this time drops Tech 2 Components.
3) Some drop Superconductors which are a normal Trade Good that is used in the production of Tech 2 Smartbombs I believe. But not a tech 2 component itself
4) If you are killing a convoy outside a station, sentry guns will not fire on you if the convoy doesn't belong to the corp that owns the station. (not sure how the changes to sentry guns recently have affected this!!!) 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

i suppose, trying it out is half the fun. I got my numberes figured by testing with n00b ships. Nothing to lose that way and a noobship can gank an indy (even if it does take 20 mins....)

So a question is, my interpretation, and wish to know if this is correct. Convoy ships heading out and away from a station are of that stations faction, hence you need to be 125km + from sentry guns. Convoy ships heading TOWARDS a station are NOT of that station faction and you only have to be 60km + from sentries. Is this assumption correct? Vice-Admiral

Edited by: Vistilantus on 25/12/2004 14:33:01 no.
this is THE definitive list.
Outgoing convoys - protected up to a max of 75km from teh NEAREST sentry gun. Incoming ALIEN convoys - (not belonging to station) - free for all. Even at 1km from station. Incomming Owned convoys - same as outgoing.
now, there are erroneous data floating around. Some people have reported that if they use sensor boosters, they get owned at any range. Others have claimed to be able to hit convoys within 50km of sentry guns. Try it in a noobship then if you know it's safe, get your main ship.
that is ALL there is to it.
