How often do Asteroid fields regenerate? Does it make a difference in regeneration time if the field has been cleared of 95% of asteroids?
Thanks.

I think the guy that knows about respawning asteroids is sick and/or on vacation. :-)

I wasn't lazy, I searched the forums. I didn't get any hits to answer this question.

Edited by: Haratu on 01/08/2004 03:56:07 This is simply what i have observed:
>A field has a maximum level, once it reaches this level then the veldspar 'roids just increase in size.
>A fully strip mined field recovers VERY slowly, starting with veldspar, then scordite, then other stuff.
>A field will recover automatically and change position approx once a month (or with every patch). This usually occurs before a strip mined field reaches the scordite level.
>If a field is only half mined of an ore type then it will recover that type in about 24-48hrs. This suggests ore acts as a catalyst for itself.
Overall conclusion: Dont mine all the ore type from a belt, leave it be until the next day while you mine a different ore type. There are also plenty of fields in any system, mine them while you wait. Strip miners are bad for the environment and the economy.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Can someone confirm that fields actually move? The reason I ask is that I have setup BK's and Secure Cans to/in fields and want to know if I am going to have to update them every month.
Also regarding secure cans how long do they last in space before they pop on their own and what keeps players from just blowing them up?
Thanks.

I don't think they do on a regular basis. I have several BMs for handy mining spots and they have been valid for over a month now. Once or twice a patch has had an effect though. -- (Battle hardened miner)

When you take ore from belt a one one side of the universe, it replemishes belt b somewhere else. There is a max ammount of ore for the whole universe.

That is really interesting if there is a "Universe Asteroid Constant."
Now I have 2 differing opinions on wether asteroid fields move. Anyone else want to help me figure this out either way?
Also can someone answer my question about secure cans. Thank you.
