These massive haulers are based off of the tech to build titans. They have enormous cargo bays and are forced to be moved via jump drive.
Atlas Class
Ships would require all skills required for freighter, plus (Race) Freighter V, Advanced Spaceship Command V, Jump Drive Calibration IV.
Volume - 132.5 billion m3 (10 million packaged) Cargo Space - 6.5 million m3 Jump drive stats equal to (Race) titan.
Thoughts?

Dumb, basically an idea with zero thought spent on.

Well yes, but with it's size It can't dock. It would need to be offloaded by freighters or at a POS. |

Why? what purpose would this ship serve... logistics is supposed to be somewhat challenging, not a walk in the park.. this would just make it even easier for the large scale alliances to maintain what they have as this would serve no purpose for smaller scale operations.. if anything we need a freighter designed to carry around a few rigged ships such as maybe a 2-2.5 mil m3 ship maintenance array.. not a "super cargo freighter"

While this would be useful, I doubt it would be useful often enough to , make it worth the cost.
Require (Race) Freighter IV, ASC III. Ship maintenance bay 750km3. No jump drive. Cargo 250km3 5% to ship maintenance bay and cargo per lvl.
Cost Freighter +25%
It's hard to justify a ship maintenance bay bigger than a freighter cargo bay and the carrier ship bay. |

I like that class name "Atlas Class". Would be neat for something. I don't see the value in a jump freighter to start with, so I will keep my opinion to myself. |

Edited by: Koyama Ise on 02/02/2009 10:29:54 I believe the reasons why CCP won't introduce this is because;
- You can drop eggs easy with this thing.
- You can carry Dreadnaughts in it.
- You can carry carriers in it.
- You can in theory carry a mothership in it, thought repacking would be a challenge.
 - You can carry freighters in it.
- It takes the risk out of 0.0.

One of the reasons no one goes to low sec is because it is too damned hard to get stuff in and out. Easier logistics will bring more combat ships to low/null sec. The reason no one leaves empire is because every single little thing you want to do in 0.0 stressful. Take the stress out of hauling, and give us time to fly a PvP ship.

It's not that hard if you have any clue as to what you're doing...

I think you are missing the point to low/null sec. In fact, I think you have not been to low/null sec space before because there is plenty of PvP taking place in low sec. You sound like a carebear that wants low/null sec tamed so you don't lose your precious cargo. Wake up and smell the ashes.
Easier logistics will not bring PvP....current logistics already has plenty of PvP.
Just by adding a super capital version of a freighter will not fix the problem. All you have done is made a very expensive paperweight sitting with a bullseye on its hull. Nobody will care what cargo you are carrying anymore. They will only want to ruin your day by destroying a ridiculously expensive ship and possibly the cargo as well. You would be out several billion isk and your creditors/clients will not be happy. In fact super capital logistics will discourage logistics of this magnitude.
You might want to think a little more carefully before you post such nonsense.

actually the whole point of logistics is to make things easier. that said, a bigger freighter is not really needed at this time - a smaller one is... and no the jump freighters and orca do not count, as a smaller T1 freighter should be easier to get into, not harder.
