I enjoy all aspects of the tourny commentary tbh. Ive had a personal assault on me b4 (hi infi :p) and ive had bad and good things said about the teams ive been involved with. Its a good laugh and all meant in jest or to provoke a rise out of the audience.
The only issue that ALWAYS gets on my **** is when commentators guess whats going on and sell it like a fact.
Not to single out anyone but i need an example. eddz, bless him said that the mega in our first fight was fitted with rails. It wasnt it was a blaster fit. Fair enough, your not controlling the camera or dont know the difference to look at (most people dont. so thats fair enough) But it was sold as a sniping ship and for the viewer it changes the dynamic of the possible tactics for the team, and people ask in there head ''why dont they do X,Y OR Z??''
If your unsure and leave it suggestive. ''I believe there rails, but i could be wrong'' you stop the lolabuse at urselves and stop people thinking the wrong things =)
But to re-itterate, Its a good laugh. I cant wait to see more megatrons this weekend |

So them starting with 'what we can't see' and then leading off with wild speculations about chips related slip-ups or the cat jumping the keyboard would be an improvement, possibly.
I'm sure the commentators appreciate constructive criticism, habitual sayings can be hard to notice if you're the person using them. I do of course appreciate the commentators, but every other sentence being started with "we can see" does indeed become annoying, and is redundant.
(You're really smart and witty by the way, what you describe is definitely what my post implied. That the commentators I'm talking about should stop or reduce their use of "we can see" is not what any reasonable person would deduce as the solution.) |

In a large fight, when a key ship is in hull a commentator needs to shout

I only have one minor criticism which is the amount of help the commentators receive from the camera crew. I donÆt know if its communication problems as DJTheBaron seemed to suggest or not. Maybe trigger words or just an out and out æcan I have a close up on A, B or C actionÆ, might help. IÆm saying this because to my untrained eye the camera work doesnÆt seem to flow or follow the action being discussed by the commentary team. It almost looks the complete opposite, with commentators following what the camera crew is showing. On the occasions where the camera does follow the action suggested by the commentators it seems like it takes quite a while to get there. I suppose thatÆs where filming the Alliance tournament is forgiving because if that was on TQ PVP the ship would already be dead.
As for the comments here about the commentators themselves well what can I say, if you donÆt like the sound of someoneÆs voice or you cant take to someoneÆs humour itÆs pretty obvious all their idiosyncrasies are going to annoy you. DonÆt take things so seriously these guys are just trying to comment on an Internet Spaceship game and have a laugh while theyÆre doing it. You canÆt please all the people all of the time.

I think the commentators and experts are pretty pro this year tbh. You are all confident enough on camera to not come across akwardly like in the past and you are either not drinking or capable of handling your booze which is good.
Meme spouting can get a bit over the top but no where near as cringe worthy as previous tournies.
Could do with less darth breathing in the mic's though, I'm guilty of this on vent and it drives people nuts. |

Oh and a note...
It's "hahr-BYN-jur" not "hahr-BING-er"
First sylable as in "hardy-har-har" second sylable as in "trash BIN" last sylable as in "jury" or "jerk"
there is no "ing" in the pronunciation of harbinger.
This drives me crazy.

One small thing... the commentators should swap headsets, so that instead of the microphone sitting between their face and the camera, the microphone is hidden behind their heads.
Small change, but it's the little things that make the difference. |

Commentators might want to do the math on the extra bonus given by a specialist Fleet Command ship. It is a whopping 3% extra.

Edited by: Kil2 on 08/02/2009 19:18:05 is there a reason other than that 3% that they are bringing it? also im sure its more, have you taken skills and mindlinks and all that into account?

Yes, it's a very small difference.
it's 3% per level, so a 1.15 multiplier at lvl 5 link on normal ship gives 25% , link on fleet command ship gives 28%.
It's really not worth it, unless you're bringing something where such a small difference matter (like for example the vulture for the PL Curse bait). Most ppl using claymores will prolly be running 3 gang-links though, and that might be worth it. Am I forced to have any regret? Edited by: Kil2 on 08/02/2009 19:40:26 when that abaddon capped out i was running the camera ship and i was freaking screaming in the production room about it. i zoomed in really close to the lasers hoping eddz would notice to no avail.
i think crovan knew also but he was on the couch.
Quote: MWD right into the middle of 5 neuting domis and hence it's better off to stay at long range and do less dps...
and as far as this goes the abaddon was orbiting. not approaching, no interest in coming close.

Well, it is a 3% difference, so what you probably want to do is to pick the most important link you need and select the fleet command for that (and the mindlink, too, obviously). Then add the other two links.
This of course assumes that the opponent will ignore your fleet command, which might or might not be the case. If you think the opponent will primary your fleet command, go with the Damnation.

Basic math didn't go so well in elementary school, eh studio?
60 months becomes 8 years according to what calendar?
6 months per player on a ten man team, not the biggest of prices.
