I would like to see a quick-train button for skill training. The button should select the skill in which training time would be the least. SigPl/HQ&Log Coy/MNB(C)/KFOR |

Friday,
Yeah, just another way of defining a "Skill Queue". Are people that lazy or just don't have enough time to log on for 5-10 minutes to change skills?
I understand that some skills might end when you are sleeping or while you are away doing something else. Here is a suggestion I have and it works great for me.
1. If your skill ends while you will be sleeping you have (2) options:
a. Before going to sleep set a long skill or set a skill that will be finished about the time you wake up.
b. Set your alarm clock.
I read somewhere that SHIVA will allow you to skill train using the Eveonline website. Maybe that will bring some relief for people who have skill training ending when they are at work. ______________________

Seems that you didn't understand the idea. This has nothing to do with a "skill queue". Just a simple button which picks the skill that has least amount of time for completion.
If you think a bit, you'll realize that you have 100-200 skills to train, each of those have different training times. Going thru all skills and checking the time required, comparing them and choosing the right skill to train is waste of time, which could easily be done by the computer in 1 sec.

And the trouble with the suggestion is that there are sometimes within a characters skillset a skill which is completely usless to that charcters development (ie corp management for freelancers as an example) That skill would be left alone by the player by a quick train skill buitton would select it every time an therefore effectively break you idea.

I agree we need skill queueing even if it is only a marker for the next skill to tarin after this one.
Another way would be to have a quick train intrupt the current skill that is training and train a new one then return to current one. but in the end that is no different than a simple next skill to train.
Hopefully this will be in the UI changes for shiva.

I would like to see a "Skill Flow chart" What skill allows you to do what? Not in game but a downloadable version would be nice. Free-form Professions, ensure no limetations on professions. Be a trader, fighter, industialist, researcher, hunter, pirate or mixture of them all.
As read from the original box and from this site.

check eve-i.com there is a Character manager there that allows you to access skillpoints out-of-client. The relevant part of this post is that this program will sort your skills in various ways, including a sort by "least amount of time to reach next level".
might be a fix for your dilemna.

hmm I read 'skill-queue' everywhere. hey they won't implement it. don't get it? It would allow ppl to put up a queue and just stop playing for half a year or so. People would stop playing and subscribing to the game. So give me a reason why CCP should be interested in this? |

As you haven't yet figured out, it's exactly the point of the button. To train the skill with least amount of time to complete, which in your example would be corporation management (Why would someone go out and buy such a skill if he/she didn't need it?).
Effectively your example didn't break the idea, it just showed that the person in example either trains the corp management or doesn't use the quick button. SigPl/HQ&Log Coy/MNB(C)/KFOR |

I`m not going to say it`s a stupid idea, but I have not met anyone that has not mapped his skill training for at least a month at a time. And it gets frequently updated as the situation dictates the needs for certain skills.
I personally have my skill training mapped out for about 4-5 weeks in advance. Date/time jotted down on a small desk calender for training to be finished. Log on 5 minutes before it completes and set my next skill.
Wait! What happens if a skill is finished when I am asleep or don`t have access to Eve? I train the next skill I on my list, this way the skills I WANT will be trained. Not very hard at all. Why would anyone want to train a skill that you do not want? ______________________

Well now you have. I have no general plan on skill training, unless you count that I keep training going. I do have some 200 skills from level 1 to level 5. Around 50 would fall in the "quick learn button" category, and more are coming to close of it.

That sounds sad, really. I have skill training mapped to "When might be the next time I have time to play". If I'm not sure, I'll whip up few days extra and train even longer skill.

In my case, pretty much nothing. My average playing time is around 0-8hrs/week. And I'm not planning to buy a laptop, satellite dish and solar panel just to play EVE from some remote location.
Come to think of it, in winter time that solar panel would be useless above arctic circle. There's no freaking sun for half of the year...
