Wow this really is a topic that needs to be put to bed. The `ninja salvagers` used to really annoy me but you can beat them at their own game if you want to, and if then just ignore em. Just don`t shoot at the flashy red ones, you`ll be sitting in a pod before long.

This :)
I spend almost all of my time in 0.0 and the general rule is that whilst nobody "owns" wrecks, it's bad form to salvage a ratter's wrecks and/or take their loot without asking.
Usually I dock, switch ships and come back and clean up my loot and salvage, but sometimes I feel nice and ask in local if anyone wants the stuff when I just can't be bothered or don't have the time for it.
I did come across someone going after one of my wrecks whilst I was still ratting in the belt. I gave him a friendly warning that it was bad form to do so without asking, but if I catch it at him again he is going to be on the receiving end of a Scourge Fury volley :)

You, sir, are the nicest denizen of 0.0 I've ever heard of.

Originally by: Thorian Baalnorn since its unlikely they are going to change some ninja salvaging. Here are some suggestions: 1)Dont mission is busy hubs ( or take missions that go to busy systems) or during peak time. 2) when you do get a ninja, set them( personally or as a corp) to orange. then remember orange = not good idea to run a mission in a system with that person in it. 3) you could run salvagers on your mission ship but i dont recommend it. 4) on multi room missions( GE and AE for example) do 1-2 rooms and salvage. 5) pop wrecks when ninjas come in. since they have to go to each wreck( within 5km) if you keep popping them before they get to them they will likely get tired of it and find easier prey.NOTE: in multi rooms set your directional scanner to about 500,000 km - most accel gates are 10k km apart or so. spam the scanner every 1-2 min( if your paranoid) if any ship not in your fleet pops up on scanner, especially t1 frigs, warp out warp back in to the first room and start popping wrecks. 6) use the mission briefing before you accept the mission to determine your mission location. place your salvage ship in that system. 7) run with a buddy 1 kill 1 salvage behind. 8)accept your going to have some losses sometimes to ninjas. if your salvage is valuable to you then make yourself a hard target and general waste of time for ninjas
Some donts: 1) dont talk smack to ninjas, complain to their ceos, etc. more then likely your going to single yourself out as someone to harass. its best not to say anything at all. 2) just because you can shoot a ninja dont mean its a good idea.if one flips your wreck let them flip. more than likely they are trying to get you agress them so they can shoot you. they will warp out warp back in a pvp ship and smoke you while rats are on you. if they are flipping your wrecks chances are they have alot better ship then your in sitting nearby.
real good advice!!! my personal fav: pop wrecks..........lol
i would add: you can blitz most mission's. or pop the trigger and jump out! [then come back and watch the rats pop him.........lol] |

Well and it gives you even an extra wreck to salvage for your own to. It isn't the first ninja salvager I saw warping in on scan and warping out so he get alphaed
Also another tip run missions in ships with smaller signature radius. This makes it harder to be scanned out.

1 av a alt or corp member in a pvp ship on standby 2 av a tanked bs in station were u run missions ok wen your see said ninja salvager in your mission warp your pimped bs to the spare tanked bs at station. once in your tanked bs warp back to plex start tanking only. warp in your alt or corp m8 (pilgram or curse allways good to use) and with alt/corpy start killing the rats leave about 3-5 wrecks then cloak up and wait for ninja salvager to return wen he steel's your wreck he's agrod to your pilgram and thats were fun starts :)

i love the ninja salvagers they show what ive never wanted to be and there some really stupid idiots among them like the guy following me into recon 3/3 *muahahahaha*
and more important: they are the only ones who need carebears really hard, because without carebears they got nothing to do |

This is the most original thing I've seen in a ninja salvage thread in a while. (However, please note that you'll want an afterburner fit because you can't MWD in most missions.)

Itsa profession so just leave the topic die.
I do probing for Radar sites a lot and will flick the scanner to probe for Ships and Drones at the same time. If I get a hit I often end up with the following;
- A radar or deadspace spot to go find / do - A drone or 5 left over in space to go loot to cargo and then redo my scan again - A ship in mission somewhere where I will go and swap ships AFTER I have tracked down everything else worthy in the system and then salvage.
It covers my probe cost, time and makes for some good ole salvaging for parts and for ISK. And if something is good in the odd container, grab that too :P
And lastly - CCP said so so there :P
Cheers

Edited by: TexasRain1 on 10/02/2009 11:59:44 Forget all that other crap..
Are you a mission runner making plenty of ISK running missions? Are you fed up with mission ninjas? Do the following..
1) Don't engage "ninjas." That's what they want. You are good at running missions (and making tons of ISK!,) their niche is killing mission runners and taking your stuff/salvage. 2) Note the "ninjas" corp. name that most annoys you. 3) Contact a qualified mercenary corp. to handle your dirty "laundry."
Mercenary corp. kills "ninjas" for fun (and ISK,) and you notice shortly there after that you return to your wrecks and salvage them (hours later,) with no one around.
Mercenary corps do require payment of course and this can vary greatly depending on the corp. you hire or the assignment given. Generally, frozen corpses are provided as proof of kill.
Fight back, while still running your missions.. Smile as you notice the rookie ninjas dry up!

Ninja salvagers need to eat too. I just ignore them. My time is better spent speed running missions and not fooling around with loot & salvage. |

Edited by: Kahega Amielden on 11/02/2009 05:08:16 Can't speak for any other ninjacorps that may have been out there at some point...but we've had weeks under 6+ wardecs at once, several of them obviously mercs hired for the purpose described above
Not sure what hiring mercs is going to do other than waste your money, but meh...I suppose if you have some spare cash lying around |
