You have Ships and Items, why not Blueprints?
It would have two sections, one for originals, one for copies.
Drop an assortment of blueprints into your hangar and they'll automatically sort themselves into the right compartment.

This makes sense
when you have hundreds of blueprints its hard work to look in each one to see if its an original or copy. If it is too difficult to handle to create the sections in the hangar it would be nice to see the me and pe and copy or original by rightclick with the mouse on it.

Sounds like a good idea, I'd go for any multiple form of personal hangers tbh, containers are all well and good, but i hate using them, same goes for ship cargo bays

This would require them to do exactly what they would be required to do to make the game give a visual distinction between bpo's and bpc's which the devs have already stated repeatedly would be extremely difficult to do on the database calls and would require a reworking of the entire system. |

Edited by: Fwuffy Wabbit on 04/02/2009 19:17:21 They already do it for the blueprint view on Science and Industry.
At the very least they can leave out the BPO/BPC differentiation until they can be bothered to get their finger out of their *cough* and do something about it.

While they would have to query the data base to separate each BPO and BPC, they would only have to do it once and not every time you open the hanger. All they need to do is something similar to radioactive and passanger item types. You cannot place them in cans. Or just add a feature to the science tab to export to hanger this will more all the BPO's and leave the copies in the main hanger.
Once the BP are in the correct hanger you could just select the imput out put hanger from the research/factory slot likr you do with corp hangers. If CCP want to manage the load, they could introduce a sort queue that waits till down time to do the checks and auto sorts the BP's into the hangers.
I personal would prefer blueprint books that act like a can you can place BPO's in and selectable from the invention/research/manufacturing tool, this would only take 1m3 of space and be nameable like ammo or ships. This way you can easily transport all your BP with out having to sort each one at the other end.
Either way having a more permanent way to separate BPO's from copies would be a nice addition to the game. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

This will not work. You materials and BPs would never be in the same hangar, so you'd never be able to start a job. This is far too complex and far too little gain to be had from it.

This would be easy to do IF they reworked the hangers to allow for Partitions.
They already allow for "remote" research to a POS from a corp hanger in system.
If you have separate partitions, you can keep BPOs and BPCs in separate "Top level" locations and keep your minerals in another top level hanger. Right click on the print to Manufacture and set the source for Minerals/components and delivery options.
ALL of the mechanics are in place for this now. the problem would only stem from the requirement to allow for players to have their own Partitionable hanger. |
