actually I've enjoyed all of the series. They are a fairly good blend, or variety rather.
Then again, I'm not extremely particular. If it makes me laugh then I watch it. Some of them have a large abundance of Japanese humor, which most people don't get, but I enjoy it... (always been told I have a dry sense of humor) |

after the amount of drama X3 Reunion caused me, due to it coming with starforce copy protection that destroyed my lightscribe drive, after spending 50 bux to buy X3R I got a game that performed so badly it was barely playable and -1 DVD Drive
I then had to ditch it for a year, and when version 2.0 of x3r came out, I bought that for 30 bux with all the add-ons
so no I'm not gonna buy it, as far as I'm concerned egosoft owes me one, so I'll pirate this, and the next one, then maybe after that I'll buy one of their games (if they actually ever get around to releasing one that isnt bugged to bits for the first 6 months of its life)

No. As a matter of fact, the devs add bugs every patch...
Eve will never be bug free, and you really cant expect every game out there to be bug free.
Egosoft continues to maintain their games FAR beyond most other companies, and for that, they get a tip of my hat, and my money.

Your right, i cant compare eve and x3. Eve is EXPECTED to be continued, due to the renewal of subscription each month. x3 is NOT. You pay no subscription for it, and yet it is. The 2.0 patch is expected soon (beta testing of it is already available), and thats just from egosoft.
You also have legions of scripters and modders working to improve the game, something that cant be done in eve. Some of those mods are of the quality of a full game... yet those are free as well.
To any community and game like this, I feel obligated to support them by actually buying their product.
Oh, and egosoft doesnt owe you jack. You have all the tools at your disposal to find out the status of a game before buying it, and nothing is forcing you to do so. The forums there are a great indicator of the current status of the game (usually by the tons of "omfg fps is crap after a few game days"). At that point, stuck with x3r! By then it was perfectly playable, had tons of community content out for it..
If you really really didnt like the state of x3r, the play x2tt.
Nobody is forcing you to buy a game that doesnt work. Just use your brain and dont buy it if you dont want it. |
