I'm sure most people here have struck gold..
I did 50 minutes ago, i had a list of prices, went to a special place, and found someone buying an item for 25% more than the sell price in a nearby system!!
It might have been someone altering the market - and I helped because I bought every nearby item! I am at war, and my cargo ship wouldn't have taken a jump - with all my ISK invested here.
I checked the prices multiple times, to make sure it didn't seem right - can this be possible? !!
So i got massive adrenaline rush and started selling and buying again with the money i made and selling again! I even asked corp members to invest in me because I couldn't buy everything.
Then disaster struck! Someone else found this and wanted in, and started buying nearby item. The buyer count went down quickly, and with all the rush I had forgot to put the items in my cargo ship, so had quite a few jumps.
Got back into system and SOLD JUST IN TIME.
GREAT PROFITS, I effectievly doubled my money in an hour. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
And you can tell im on a high because half of this wont even make sense!

Also, great thing was it was instant profits so It can go straight back into investments.

Happens all the time, if you know where to look. That's how a lot of us became multi-billionaires.

Im sure many of us can remember the great zydrine movement. That made at least a few millionaires into billionaires over night. |

I speculated in Armor Plates when they had no in game function and were selling for a few hundred ISK apiece.
I wish I'd done it more.
Sold some billions worth when they were up in the vicinity of 250,000 apiece. Funded all my gameplay (including a very expensive sojourn in Faction Warfare) for most of the last year. Money hasn't run out yet, though the Orca I bought recently is probably the last big purchase to be supported by that particular gold strike. Also still have a lifetime supply of armor plates for my rigging hangar.
Always looking for the next strike. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

Hehehe Marlenus :) I also bought at least 470k Armor Plates under 1000 Isk - nobody had interests in these stuff. That was a lovelly situation at selling themfor hmm, 18k, later 25k and 40k, 45k was the last Plates I sold, and you may beleave me: everytime I click on Armor Plates I am near whining ^^ how awesome it could be to sell them for 200k++.
Fine to have 10 billions more, but to have 70 billions might be funnier.
That was the amaziest time in my trading karriere :) ..oh.. some day¦s ago I bought 1x Neophite for 30 mill, now sold for 100 mill.. and so on... or: Anode Mega Ion Cannon 7x sold fnr 1.7 billions :P ... and in Stain I found 5 Harvester Drones for 10 mill each.. 6 months ago, I bought 92 Harvester Mining Drones for 22 mill.. but I sold them for 35 mill >_< yes, to be a good treder is a hard job!

Streets of Amarr are paved with gold... and until recently, underpriced ship mods -- examples being "heavy" this and "heavy" that -- the kind that yield lots of good mins, including high ends.
Still a good margin to be had and, as always, the added bonus of some hot bidding action annoying the crap out of the "big boys". <tear>

When Orcas had only been getting built for a week or so and prices were all over the place, a corpmate mentioned in corp chat that there were buy orders up for two where he was for 1.2bn. I made him check it, two or three times, as I could get one for 660m off the market where I was. He swore black and blue that it was a legit buy order for 1.2bn, not 1.2m or anything like that, and that it was in highsec.
I'd had a couple of issues before where friends had misread buy or sell orders and made me waste time, but he was adamant it was exactly as he said.
So I bought the 660m one and stuffed it in my freighter (since I can't fly an Orca) and started the 17 jump trip to go drop it off. I get to the region and nope, no 1.2bn buy order, no history of there having been one. Turns out he'd been looking at Rorquals instead.
Luckily I was able to offload the Orca for 710m (from memory) elsewhere, but at this stage I knew prices were going to be dropping fast as more producers got in on the act, and I had horrible visions of being stuck with a gigantic red herring.
I'll never trust another person ever again when they tell me of good buy or sell orders. |

Amarr is the Jita of the south to be honest. Except there are not nearly as much spammers/scammers, and it has better profit margins to be had in Amarr. Turnover is slower than Jita though. Oh, and manipulating the market in Amarr is far more easier then in Jita.

The drone region debacle for the most part, that was easily the biggest swing in recent memory that I can think of.
Without looking at my books, I think it was something like a 1800 movement in a few days at times? |

True true. Castor (the first expansion for EvE) had probably the biggist impact on mineral prices as it removed NPC mineral sell/buy orders. Before Castor I could buy Zyd at 1.500 ISK, after Castor prices spiked to 3.500+ if I recall correctly.
The expected Covert Ops Cloaking Device and Blockade Runner price spike will be fun too I can imagen. Oh, and Orca's :p. |

I am a new trader only a few weeks old. Last night I struck it rich too. I was able to turn 84 million isk into 265mill in a few hours.
I found an item ranging from 500k-1mill isk lower than the buyout in Jita. I was able to gather up a few hundred.
Something like this really changes a noobie's life. Now I am sitting here contemplating what to do next. It seems as my wallet increases the bigger decisions I have to make.

This is all about knowing the market. There are millions (or billions) to be made when you have the knowledge and the time. It's fun to turn a 100m profit in one hour's work in Jita or elsewhere! I've managed to do it once or twice, but real life has a way of limiting my gameplay time. I have seen many pontenial such deals, but time lately always seams to get the best of me and I do good to just to keep my station trading stocked up.
Good Job! Keep it up!

Tritanium was great for this awhile back. Huge buys in forge. I made around 100m a trip.
Of course now I find market manipulation is a little easier and I don't have to leave station. |
