Anyone planning on watching Joss Whedon's Dollhouse? Set to premiere on Friday the 13th. I caught a glimpse of it on tv the other night and it may actually intrigue me.
Kind of looks like another version of Angel although from the few episodes I saw of that I rather liked it.

Same here. I am enjoying Sarah Connor Chronicles. But dollhouse does not interest me. I just want more firefly, so many questions left unanswered and it has so much potential. I dont even want another film i want more episodes. They can totally ignore the Film and still have Wash and Book in it |

Edited by: TraininVain on 05/02/2009 12:04:17 Yeah, definitely. It looks like exactly the kind of concept Whedon does well. And it's Eliza Dushku \o/
I wonder if he'll get any more of his regulars to appear on it?
Amy Acker is there for a start |

Guys, give it a fair go at least. I'd like more Firefly as well, but that's no reason to boycott something that could be just as good.
That said, I'm surprised he went on working with Fox after what they did to Firefly. - Verin "Stitcher" Hakatain. |

Wrong!!! nothing can be as good as firefly. EVER!! But yeah i am surprised he is still working for fox since they trashed firefly. think they showed it all out of order or something. Like the Pilot episode not shown first etc. If firefly was ever resurected. Then I hope he is allowed to take it to another network.

Joss wanted the people to meet the characters and get to know who they are but Fox wanted instant action so they aired Trainjob first. The Message was actually the last show to be produced and several cast members stated that they felt the end funeral scene was fitting for the death of a great series. Add that to the fact that Fox aired it at the most god awful hour possible and then claimed that it wasn't getting views.
Sadly Joss has no intentions of fighting to resurrect firefly nor can he make a similar copy due to Fox holding the copyrights. He was surprised as it was that it made it to movie format several years after the series went under.
I suspect though that Dollhouse will do much better as theres already a substantial fanbase for similar shows and Joss really does put a excellent story together.

Didn't sound too promising, but I have faith that some of Whedon got through Fox's demands for what series is supposed to be and I'll check it out. |

Joss Whedon as the be all end all of alternative scifi and similar genres never really worked for me. I enjoyed Firefly but that does not guarantee anything - I only enjoyed the vampire stuff because I was 15 at the time and a sucker for being part of the intended audience, looking back it does not impress, at all, frankly it's rather bad. That aside - the concept does look intriguing from the promo vid, so I would probably have a peek.
I'm in Europe so it will have to be torrented, not that I care too much about the practice, it's just that syndication effectiveness is something that irritates me. Since I pay for my cable, commercials do too
It's Fox though, count on it being destroyed in the most efficient manner available... |

I'll certainly be watching the first few episodes, after that it depends what route they take.
When I first heard about it I assumed that it was basically a live-action-whedon version of Gunslinger Girls, which would have been awesome! but after watching some of trailers it doesn't look to be that way, not that that's a bad thing, but just different from what I expected, so I'll sit down with as few expectations as possible and see where we go from there, the cast certainly looks awesome. |

Basically, Quote: ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group of individuals who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected, the Actives don't just perform their hired roles, they wholly become -- with mind, personality and physiology -- whomever the client wants or needs them to be. Whether imprinted to be a lover, an assassin, a corporate negotiator or a best friend, the Actives know no other life than the specific engagements they are in at that time
From website, and basically i think the main star starts to remember things from all these previous personas.and chaos happens

All I'm saying is that it's conservative attitudes like this that made Firefly so hard to get off the ground in the first place.
Embrace a little difference, guys. I love Firefly too, but that really isn't any excuse at all to ignore Dollhouse. Give it a fair go, judge then. But don't fanboi out on Firefly at the expense of whatever Whedon comes up with now and in the future. |

Trailer made it look like Buffy/Angel type, just updated for 2009. But trailers can be off by a lot of course.
EDIT: Which would mean it's crap, if the trailer isn't off. |

Whedon has Faith too ...

But then - who doesn't want to have Faith?
Personally, I think having Faith is the best thing this show has going for it. The more Faith is had in this show - the better.
