Okay, we know we will never get supplies of rare ores in empire. just. not. happening. But how about having a small cluster of rare ore (arkanor, dark ochre, etc...) just randomly pop up in a belt in empire space? It would help balance out the economy on rare ore, taking it from enitrely alliances and lucky ninja-miners, and put a bit of the Mega/Zyd(maybe Mophite) load on the lucky blue-collar little guy.
Now I'm not talking about a major amount. I'm talking maybe a cargo hold full in a random belt once in an hour. And if too much gathers in belts few use over time, then slow down the spawning rate a bit. Also make sure these rocks dont "grow" over time like others.
It would be more likely to spawn in .2-.4 and occasionally in .5-.8 and RARELY in .9, 1.0
The very description of Megacyte is when comets pass thorugh certain gas clouds. And this doesnt happen in places that arent criminally-owned?
I dont see any harm that could come from this, and only good.

i really don't like this idea... Any harm? what about the guys risking their ships avoiding 1-5 mil is bs's?
This would lower the price of all the high end ores, virtually cripling the deep space alliances main source of income.

lol cidhighwind, i'm not sure if they have taken it away in the past month but....
THERE ARE RARE'S IN EMPIRE !
they are like it say's though... rare, only 1 or 2 riods in a whole system, and are tucked away from the common eyes.
u just need to look for it, or hire an explorer player to go looking for you, i know of 1 place in a 0.2 system that has spod, and gniess

It's been suggested before, moving small amounts of gneiss into .1-.4 to make these areas more populated since no-one in their right mind mines gneiss in 0.0 anyways.

I know a few 1.0 systems with hidden Omber patches of 2-8 roids ^_^ I only had to fly 350km from a belt to the hidden spot at 260m/s. Nice now though since i put a bm there and i can warp directly to it ^_^
Anyways, if you can find omber in 1.0 systems then i am sure that lower security systems have rarer ores, you just need to look for them.

The pirate hideouts typically always have omber around them, regardless of security status.

i agree.. and it wouldnt have a noticable impact anyway.. not with the amount of bist/crok/ark pulled everyday out of 0.0, a tiny bit of rarer mins in a higher sec than they are supposed to be would be nice. i assume that at one time in the storyline, all these systems had higher grade ores, and got mined out, but it shouldnt mean that they got EVERYTHING... make a few nice treasures for those explorers to find. a rock with 2 or 3 refines of ark in it would brighten somebodies whole month. maybe make em so they dont appear on scanner as anything but veld(youd have to roid scan them to be sure) and are a ways offgrid or at planets.
and gneiss/spod/darkO will be great once we get mobile refineries... systems with good supplies of the big 3 will be hotly contested, but the lower 0.0 mins are EVERYWHERE in 0.0 My Idea Thread

I have been asking for this ever since they pulled the rares out of empire space.
What I was asking for was pebble sized rocks of rare ores in empire space. Ie you have to eate 3-5 pebbles to get a single refine. this would not add alot, but finding one of these while mineing would make it a nice bonus.
Also wanted the pebble not to show up on the scanner, ie they are to small for the standard scanner to find and was also wanting them to be able to spawn inside other rocks. This way you can't look for them you only find them if they happen to be out of a rock and you see it, or you are mining the rocks and you pop the roid. And look there is 50 units of ark. a dedicated miner would be able to find a few of these and in a week or so have a refine.
this would provide the small trickel and a nice bit of klondike miner feeling, like I found a gold nugget while panning for gold dust.
the other way would be like a 2% chance per refine of another ore that you get 1 unit ore of a rare ore. so if you refine 1000 refines of plag you have 1000 2% chances of geting 1 unit of a rare ore.
Ore in space is largely diferentated but it is not 100% pure by any streach of the imagination.

There is alot of megacyte at empire space, you just need to blow things up to get that. I think that average is 5 dead NPC rats for 1 megacyte. So if you count 5*5sec (blowup) + 5*30sec (get cargo) you get some mega. Usefull ratio for refining is over 100 batches.
