An intriguing term, somewhat reminds me of an old cellmate.
Let's leave that alone for now, I'd like to hear your own opinions on carebears. As far as I can tell here, they are players that stay in high security areas and perform missions and mining, yes?
So fire away, state your thoughts, feelings, and dreams on carebears. State what you think of their doings, and what should be their doings. State how great my hair is, as you like. |

I don't see being a "carebear" as meaning that you stick to hi-sec space. I tend to define a "carebear" as being someone that performs "carebearing" and define "carebearing" as "partaking in PVE orientated activities".
So, for me, the most profitable carebearing comes from low-sec/0.0 which is often more secure/safe than hi-sec is. I don't hate carebears, I don't love them either. I don't avoid carebearing and neither do it do it persistantly.
But anyway, is this the right place? |

Carebear: One whom always acts so as to mitigate any and all risk while playing EVE and throws a fit when something intrudes on their experience of EVE. Common breeds include Missionrunners that treat the game like its Singleplayer, Miners in Highsec that use GSC's and dock if something with low security enters system, Empire dwellers that drop corp the moment a wardec hits then spen the next week hopping player corps or invulnerable in an NPC corp; with the sole aim of avoiding risk.
But an absolute definition doesn't give you the whole story.
One can also be a bit of a Carebear:
Falcon alts, Falcons comprising more than 1/3 of your gang, RR neutral Scimitar/Guardian/whatever following like a swarm as you hug a station and so on....generally people undertaking what are seen as risky activities but mitigating said risk until it is negligible.
Take your best shot, i breathe Freon and crap asbestos.

You were doing so well I'll keep the ball rolling for ya... Other common carebears are so-called PVPers that prey on high sec dwellers, industrialist corps, so-called PVPers that wardec only weak non-PVP players, so-called "pirates" whose sole purpose is to grief, but the minute something doesn't go their way come moan and whine in C&P (cough cough Nexa Necis), jet-ban baiters, ninja salgavers, noob baiters... So ya, like you said, pretty much anyone

What about station huggers with 3 x tri armour pumps? Or does the fact they are willing to get shot at (but not risk getting popped) make that a moot point? |

I've been reading some of his posts and he is, for sure, an extreme carebear.
I think there are 2 kinds of pacific players:
1) those who like to create richness usually by mining industry and trading. But they don't fear some PVP and action. Otherwise this game would be boring as hell. And they never whine when got owned by another player.
2) those who avoid risks in a extreme way. So their growing is way slow. If someone disturbs them (can flippers, ninja salvagers, or others) they come to forums and whine to CCP and pirates. They also like to write "pirates" with those quotation marks. Sometimes they generate some hilarious hate mails or menace the PVPer about a possible war, or they will tell some friend to own him but that never happens.
CAREBEARS STFU IF SOMEONE FLIPED YOUR CAN GET OVER IT OR FLY BACK TO STATION EACH SOME HUNDRED m3!!! YOU DONT WANT OTHERS TO SALVAGE "YOUR" WRECKS THEN GET A FRIEND TO DO SO AND SHARE THE PROFITS!! |

Well, good madam, I could parry that blow with my assertion that all the young kids are hardcore individualists by nature.
