Edited by: Minigin on 05/02/2009 12:37:23 In an effort to understand the events of today better I have decided to pose a few questions to the general EVE community to see if we canÆt get a little... perspective.
The ôBoB vs The Restö conflict has lasted for quite some time now, and thus its origins might be somewhat forgotten. As far as I remember a major justification for the invasion of BoB space was accusations of ômeta-gamingö and the sort û IÆm not just talking about BPO spawning here. Instead I am referring to spying and corp thieves. Of which BoB has long been accused of. In recent times however we have seen certainly Goonswarm but more interestingly the NC involve themselves in similar activities that they once ôopenlyö condoned. So my first question: Do the NC condone spying and more to the point corp thievery?
Question 2. If these actions are similar to the same actions that led to justifying such a deep loathing of BoB will the ôpeople of eveö be responding the same way to this action?
Question 3. If this is indeed the final blow dealt against BoB (which it may or may not be). Will this allegedly temporary alliance between virtually every major alliance in the game finally be ending?
Question 4. If so, will we be seeing more of this particularly effective tactic (of which thus far there is no real means by which to combat such treachery bar luck û itÆs all well and good to say keep director rights limited and interview people thoroughly but there is really only so much you can do if someone is dedicated and patient to infiltrating your alliance.) perhaps used against former allies?
Question 5. With the hasty declaration of how ôGoons defeated BoBö one needs to ask if this is true in any light? Considering how long BoB fought against the Coalition arrayed against them, and that in the end the greatest blow struck against BoB had really very little to do with Goons by their own admission. So I wonder if perhaps Goons are glad they will now never have to prove that they and their coalition could put an end to BoB with a military action.
Question 6. Pretty much goes to Haargoth: If you did this for infamy, well I canÆt say you have not achieved that... but I wonder where that infamy will get you, and if you maybe will regret your decision sooner or later?
But if as the goons have been selling it, you are looking for acceptance(my they have painted you as quite the lonely soul), well I certainly donÆt know of another alliance that accepts as many corp thieves, scammers and other people generally related to s****than goons. So perhaps the calibre of people there will match you. But accept you(or trust you for that matter)? I wonder how that will go.

The whole "bob are evil because they megagame" arguement was just propaganda to get the support of newbs and popular opinion in general..
The deep loathing of BOB, was simply BOB was that much better than the rest.. The size and quality of other alliances/collations have evened out much more now.. ------------------ x-DSMA (Menta) x-CA (OMEGA/BOS) x-.5.(ATUK) BOB (DICE) |

Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and grey, Look out on a summer's day, With eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills, Sketch the trees and the daffodils, Catch the breeze and the winter chills, In colors on the snowy linen land.
Now I understand what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now.
Starry, starry night. Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue. Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, Weathered faces lined in pain, Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand.
Now I understand what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now.
For they could not love you, But still your love was true. And when no hope was left in sight On that starry, starry night, You took your life, as lovers often do. But I could have told you, Vincent, This world was never meant for one As beautiful as you.
Starry, starry night. Portraits hung in empty halls, Frameless head on nameless walls, With eyes that watch the world and can't forget. Like the strangers that you've met, The ragged men in the ragged clothes, The silver thorn of bloody rose, Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow.
Now I think I know what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they're not listening still. Perhaps they never will...

I don't care much for BoB or Goons or in fact any major 0.0 power, but I feel that the work and effort put in by hundreds of players into maintaining the alliance should not be undoable by a single person who does not have the common decency to stand up and say "Folks, I can't stand you any more and thus I leave" but instead sneaks out the back door at night, sets fire to the house and kicks all these players in the nuts in an act of spite towards the leadership.
Building an alliance this big and successful is a big effort in and out of the game (been in a small 0.0 alliance for a bit and did my share of POS maintaining too), and in my eyes these PLAYERS deserve that their efforts are not in vain.
If it had been a long struggle and a chain of lost combats so be it, but that one guy can undo the work of hundred of people is not fair towards these players.
The leadership, well, obviously they made mistakes and should get a slap for it, but noone of the hundreds of players in a BoB corp could do anything about this situation, and does not deserve such a harsh penalty.

Gotta agree. One country can't up and kick out every NATO member in one day... it shouldn't be possible in eve. It's just not right. They won't roll the server back but at least they can look at the mechanism. There should be a 24 hour period where if every other member corporation votes against the disband does not happen.
In my mind bob still has not been defeated... they just ceased to exist. It's not a defeat... Goon's didnt "win" becuase the other team never showed up. You can't win a match that was never played.

Question 7. Will there be a movie?
Just as the rest of the questions, we will know in time. This looks more internal than external with slight help of an external source. How good this coup may seem for BoBs current enemys its still a hard blow to alot of hard work in obtaining assets as they were in place. Mariages and real lives upside down due to too much gaminghours. The list goes on. Compared to real life this could be seen as an overthrown government by totaly blown out of the blue events. Nothing in life is certain it seems....again.
I know im on the other side of the fence, but still id like to wish them good luck.
(This is not an official response)

So perhaps the calibre of people there will match you. But accept you(or trust you for that matter)? I wonder how that will go.
Mind over matter. Our brains are the most dangerous weapon in eve. And the Mittani is a hydrogen b-b-b-bomb. The efforts of us and our allies created a situation where BoB became a shadow of what they were and what they said they represented. This guy wanted to come with us and have more fun. What could be more fun than this? Now as for how YOU feel about this... I'm sorry we defeated the guy you were rooting for. Don't be sad, people will still fight in eve. |

I know the NC prides itself on honor and integrity. I was an NC nublet and remember the propaganda fed to us at the beginning of the war. Goons are now the threat to the beliefs the NC hold dear but that doesn't matter. The truth behind the norths actions in this long war has and always will be about the isk. Is this really how you wanted to win Orree?

Haargoth WILL regret his decision. Just as the MC backstabbed BoB and was later torn apart without being capable of providing any sort of fight, so shall Haargoth be utterly destroyed and humiliated along with his precious new friends in the swarm.
It's not to say that things aren't considerably different now, then they were a year ago, but ex BoB/Ken can are the only ones that can accomplish this at present.
Regardless, I look forward to quite possibly collecting Haargoths hide to either sell at top dollar, or mount on my wall in ambulation. |

3) I dont believe for one second that KenZoku think or treat this action as a 'final blow' they will just pick themselves up (after the initial shock) and get on with it like they have always done
4) I would hope every major Alliance or even every single alliance will be taking a look at their directorship and powers given out to prevent a occurance like what happened to BoB from happening to them
5)can't answer this as i have not got the faintest idea whats in a Goons head and i shudder to even think about it
6) he will be forgotton soon as a errr who?
Personnally i have fought BOB over many years in game but goons from my pov have become for me at least something i try to sc**** of my foot, BOB/KenZoku on the other hand have changed from my nemesis to players i shoot at, but with increased respect, they have picked themselves up from a massive stab in the back which would have finished anyone else to turning it to their advantage and thats where the mad props should go to :)
