Software development protip for CCP: if you haven't got the resources to fix a bug, at least change the documentation so it becomes a feature.

Par for the course, Bob beat ASCN through the application of an intimate knowledge of how the sovereignty system works, and an absolutely laser focused ability to know the intricacies of the system that were not documented and to know when they were changed.
I suspect this is one of the ephemeral advantages of having the "Batman Hotline", there are simply things that can not be easily tested and are not in any way documented that a dev could talk you through with little difficulty. The hard part is being friends with a dev.
I'm not going to say BoB haxploit, I'm going to say that the POS and Sovereignty system is dog**** with very little documentation. |

IMHO I almost think its time to admit that the entire POS + Sovereignty system is a failure. Does anyone remember the days before it, I'm not saying station pong was better but you didn't see these sorts of extreme measures being necessary to cause any movement in the politicial.military situation.
Frankly I think that the best solution is to make towers more versatile, a little cheaper to keep and a lot easier to kill. And FFS get rid of the damn POS Shield mechanic, binary systems of certain death/absolute safety only lead to gridlock.
If I had my way you'd be able to plant a tower wherever you want. but it wouldn't have a "bubble" shield and all of its assets would be vulnerable.
Ideally you'd be able to plant towers on gates and stations and use that to hold territory. GO back to the Station shield system, but allow players to use the existing POS structures in the proximity of their stations. (put an interface mechanic into effect so you cant throw 100 towers near a station)
But thats a discussion for the features and ideas forum. |

CCP must be nice to work for, I know that at my job when I do something contrary to documentation provided to clients I am suppossed to change my behavior to comply with the written communication.
I'm sorry CCP its unacceptable, Game mechanics need to comply to written documentation. If your policy isn't in agreement change the damn documentation FIRST.
Anything less is arbitrary, we the players are not privy to the internal consensus of CCP (well those of us who don't have a batphone anyway), we have to go on what is written in the documentation.
This isn't the first time you've pulled a stunt like this, and all it does is reinforce the players impression that your decisions are arbitrary and unfathomable to the players.

How do you learn game mechanics (sov mechanics, more precisely), exactly?
Via Batphone apparantly. |
