Hey, I made a gigantic PDF skill chart because I couldn't find one anywhere else.
I figured people in this forum were the ideal audience so here you all go:
Gigantic PDF skill chart
It's color shaded by rank, with rank 1 as white and rank 16 as red. You'll have to zoom in to make it useful.
Suggestions?

Looks real good.. Might be nice to have it alittle bigger so you dont have to zoom in so far to see but iam sure thats probably necessary for it to fit..
Also I understand the color code for the ranks but adding a [] with the rank number at least in the L1 category might be nice.

If you could make it spin in 3D that would be nice.

There used to be a very nice skill chart here: http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/0802/skillchart.png but it seems to have vanished.
*** EDIT ***
Found it: http://www.eve-files.com/media/0802/skillchart.png

Acrel, thanks for the suggestion, I added the rank number for the first level of each skill.
Poreuomai, that image is nice--I like mine for the ability to search and because you can see the skill links a tiny bit better. :)
I also improved the formatting so that it displays a tiny bit better.

How about a BOLD line for progression up levels in the same skill?
I.e. Missile Launcher 2 to Missile launcher 3 is a bold line, while Missile Launcher 2 to FoF Missiles 1 is a standard weight line.

Very good idea, I'll try and do that tonight. :)

It was actually pretty easy since the data was already all available in XML and easily parsed by Python. From there I just sent it through graphviz and refined it until it looked OK. Less than an hour of work. :)

How about background colour for types of skill? I had to look through the whole thing to find industry-based skill tree.

Done. :)
I also updated the layout somewhat; it's slightly cleaner now.
Keep the suggestions coming!
Also, links between levels are gray and dashed, links between different skills are the color of the parent skill now.

Looks fantastic!
Has anyone tried printing this? I wonder what size paper you'd need for it to be readable - or alternatively, how many A4 sheets you'd need.
Any recommendations for the best way to print this?

Is there a particular reason the skills aren't grouped by category? For example, why are there electronics skills scattered amongst the industry skills?

Hi there. First of all: nice work man. How did you do it? What tools did you use? (I assume it has been generated with some sort of tool...)
Unfortunately, my skillchart ( linky ) is a bit outdated.
Suggestion: why dont you keep the skill rank throughout all the skills (even at the higher levels). For example: Missile Bombardment I additionally has the [2], but II, III, IV, V dont have the rank info. ---------------------------------------- Oliver G, Founder and CEO of G Enterprises. |
