How long does it take a good scout to scan down Wormholes and ships? I can use 7 probes and use a octahedron setting, but it seems like it takes me soooooooo long to narrow down any signiture. I use a method similar to what is suggested on the CCP youtube scanning guide.
Is there something I can do to improve my technique? A faster method?
Thanks |

One sig shouldn't take you longer than 5minutes. Try this http://www.tigerears.org/2011/11/28/how-to-scan-the-penny-ibramovic-way/ |

Hm.. didn't know about the alt option. That should make things easier a bit. I also see that he doesn't bother with using a 6th or 7th probe in the Z plane. I'll give it a try like that. |

I typically use a Square of 8 au probes with a triangle of interior 2 AU probes and it generally takes me less than 1-2 minutes per signature in a wormhole. Much faster in high-sec where there's a stronger signature hit. |

5 probes is all you need. 7 is only needed to narrow down 10/10 ded complexs.
1 in middle
4 around it slightly overlapping in the middle, the overlaps create a sort of box in the middle where the sig is.
if you going from 32AU, Id say 4 scans is enough to get a warp to. so like .....60 seconds maximum. |

7 probes for best results, since all 7 add to the result |

Depends on the number of signatures. The thing that makes the biggest difference is skills. I have an alt with perfect scanning skills and using that alt I can scan a system for all sigs in a few minutes and even for big systems with a lot of sigs never more than about 10 min. Getting a warp-in on a particular sig is usually a matter of 2-3 scans so maybe 30 sec to 45 sec. Using another alt that only has level 3 skills it takes easily twice as long.
So train those skills. it's well worth it |

It heavily depends on skills/mods/implants/ship and sig size.
With my skill (3-4) i need about 6 scan for a highsec wh. More for low/null.
Some things i cant even lock. |

Takes me about 3-4 minutes with average skills, no implants and in a Drake. Thats using the 5 probe method. I'm in no rush really though, so sometimes its quicker, sometimes its not. I know that WHs are easier to scan and gravs are harder though. |

This....I use a set of these implants and has really helped narrowing down sites. Well worth the investment. |

If youre taking more than a minute per sig you need to practice more. With good skills you should be IDing at least 1 sig with every scan.

The quickest way to GÇÿclearGÇÖ a system probe scanning uses high skills, top-line equipment, and an 8-probe, concentric, pattern of RSS core probes. Less than a minute per site is entirely manageable.
Already mentioned and discussed many times before GÇô I tried to 'draw' the basic pattern at https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1040229#post1040229
I think I learnt this from Jack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8n8KamI0Ag We can build and sell pretty much every ship. Check my bio for details. Our pirate epic arc completion packages really are very good: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12973&find=unread |
