Flux Technologies Inc IPO
The quick and dirty
45 billion 7% - 9% Zero risk
Flux Technologies Inc.
Flux Technologies Inc is a research corporation. Its main business strategy stems from purchasing blueprints from the market, perform research and return it to the market for resale.
Flux Technologies Inc. also provides research service; this is to allow us to fill a market gap where NPC research slot is not readily available to the general public.
You can find Flux Technologies Inc storefront: Linkage
Past, Present, and Future
Flux Technologies Inc was started as a small research division of a manufacturing corporation. However, after manufacturing became a difficult venture with little returns, the research division was expanded to purchase and resell blueprints to the public. It was found that this venture was more profitable than manufacturing; the manufacturing corporation has since closed and Flux Technologies Inc. was formed.
An opportunity appeared that I intend to seize it. However, I donÆt have the capital to take advantage of the opportunity, so I proceed to start this IPO.
Corporate Governance
Flux Technologies Inc. is a one man corporation. There is zero risk for corporation thief and espionage.
Business Plan
In short, I plan to produce T2 item. The entire 45 billion will be used to purchase the BPO being put up for sale. The T2 blueprint will reside with one of the well known MD vet, locked down in his corp. During this, one of my alts will join his corporation and produce copies of the blueprint, which will be used for production.
Material will be purchased from Jita for production of the T2 item. My main has Advanced Mass Production level 3, which allows me to have 8 production lines, plus I can make a single copy of the BPO in less than an hour.
The items will be sold in 2 ways. They can be sold on Jita, making a return of 9% but turn around time is slower. Or they can be sold to a trader for less than Jita price, potentially around 7% depending on price negotiation. I plan to raise my AMP to level 5, allowing me to have 11 production line. Each additional line would represent another 1.1% (or 0.8% if trader route is taken) in interest each month.
IÆve sent Kazzac Elentria a message to be the MD vet to hold and lock down the BPO. WeÆve yet to work out the finer details; hopefully heÆll post in here to confirm that weÆre in talk.
IPO Plan
Flux Technologies will sell 450 shares for 100 million each. DO NOT SEND ISK TO US, instead, it will be sent to the MD vet. He will be the one to make the purchase; the entire transaction will not be made by anyone from Flux Technologies for trust purpose.
Please do not send the isk yet until I've hammered out the details with Kazzac. For now, please make your reservations
Employee
Brock Nelson is a 2 month old char and is being groomed toward PVE. Brock is my voice on Eve-online forum. Inoshuu is my main, he is ~2 years old and is primarily used for research and manufacturing. Catherine Brock is my alt, she has basic research skill. She is the CEO of Flux Technologies Inc. Aeon Lance is my alt, he has basic research skill Miranda Lance is my alt, she has basic research skill Yokii is my alt, she has basic research skill.
Disclosure of Risk
1.Hit by a bus: I try to avoid busses; in fact, I will make sure that my hearing aid is turned on every time I cross the street.
2.Job: I have a job that involves travel, however I do bring my laptop with me that is capable of playing Eve.
3.Family: What are you kidding? I have a girlfriend that works at night while I work during the day, its perfect!
Scam
I canÆt scam in this business plan, especially if the T2 BPO resides with a well known MD vet. Although, the MD vet can scam everyone and take the BPO himself. |

If I find that the market is not as strong as expected, I will terminate the IPO by selling the T2 BPO. At this point, this IPO does not have an ôend dateö, meaning that we could continue without any changes.
FAQ
Q: Will you submit to Audit? A: Yes, please recommend one and I will make arrangements to that end.

The whole idea of T2 production in this unstable time worries me with prices fluctuating all over the place.

As a man who's spent the last year doing probabilist risk analysis, I have to contest that statement. When dealing with individuals there is no such thing as zero risk. It may be 10^-8 /yr it may be 10^-15 /yr it may be even smaller but given enough people and enough time they will inevitably achieve every failure mode.
Anyways, I'm interested and pending some info on who is holding what BPO's I could be wiling to invest quite a few billion.
Put me down for a 10% stake pending that info and I'm certainly willing to go higher.

I am forced to ask if you understand the concept of a share.
It is a physical thing that is actually given to you and with it comes dividends and voting rights. You cannot tear it in half and split it with someone.

I of course understand the concept of a share.
If someone wishes to split it with me, I have no problem with them holding it as long as I receive half the payout.

EDIT: In light of the recent activities and topics that have been posted in MD lately. Would you mind adding in a clause to your IPO stating what would be done in the situation that one of your investors happened to be a scammer. And a clause in which the auditor/banks would be allowed to disclose all alt information and any other information should this IPO turn out to be a scam. I have no reason to believe this IPO is a scam, and I obviously don't as I am investing a large amount. I just think this is good practice for all future IPOs/Bonds.
Well of course, I assume that this is the new standard as set out by some of the audit thread discussion. I'll add in the clause.
Edit: Well, actually why bother? I've already disclosed all of my alts and main.
Edit 2: In regards to what happens if one of the investor is a scammer, I'm not sure as to what I would do. Any suggestion would be helpful. |

Put me down for one share, Brock. Will send isk once i get back home.
Perhaps if one of the investors happens to be a scammer, the money invested can be refunded those scammed in order: 1. Those scammed who have invested in your IPO. 2. Others, if there is isk left over.
How you decide to distribute would be up to you. Perhaps in order of the reservation instead of percentage so as to avoid complications.

Absolutely, shouldn't be the IPO's problem if an investor scammed someone else, even another investor. 'Course, if you want to toss the scammer out on their ear and refund their money, that would be understandable.

I dont think you should police scammers assuming you find out one did invent in your IPO. You might want to put a clause in saying if someone scam you personnel and sends you ISK you will take the amount that they scam out of their investment. Even then though you might still have a lot of forum drama to go through after it.

Edited by: Chalrynn Illyndar on 07/02/2009 10:14:51 Are those margins even possible with a single BPO? If I understand it correctly you plan to copy the BPO and then produce from it. This would put the time for a single run BPC out of a mobile lab with 5% copy time hardwiring and Science V at 30.875 minutes. That allows for 1399 Hammerhead II every 30 days. Even if you assume you sell all at 1 million a piece (about 45% more than Jita prices). Thats only 1.4 billion a month (3%) not including material cost.

I was composing a post along the same lines as this.
You are going to be churning out copies at the rate of 1 run every 30 minutes (or thereabouts) and it takes somewhere in the region of 20 minutes to manufacture the finished product. So you will not be able to fuel even 1 manufacturing slot with your copy output. Given that in the first post you mention needing more manufacturing slots, I suspect that there is some faulty logic at play here.

Yes, this is a problem. The 'Research copy time (you per single copy)' value is the time it takes to produce a single 1-run BPC, not a max. length 100-run BPC. Even in an advanced lab, with a 5% copying speed implant, this still takes almost 31 minutes. Equivalently, producing 1 run from the BPO takes less than 19 minutes.
I was initially worried I'd missed out on quite a good opportunity here, but I rather doubt that now. --- Can't afford that BPO? Look here. 20:1 mineral compression The EVE f@h team |

So Brock, you have got 45b of reservations on a flawed principle. It would not be possible for you to produce anywhere near the profits you have specified. Once the penny drops with your investors, those reservations will be retracted. Then you will be left with a 1 billion isk down payment on an Hammerhead II BPO that you cannot afford to purchase. Barring extreme generosity on the part of the seller, that's 1 billion isk down the drain.
That's got to hurt!

Sadly, that will not fix what is broken here.
Even if you produce directly from the BPO, assuming a single unit takes 20 minutes to produce...
3 runs per hour 72 runs per day 2160 runs per month
To make 7% returns on 45b you would need to make 3.15b per month.
3.15b divided by 2160 runs is around 1.45m.
How are you going to make 1.45m PROFIT per unit on a product that retails at half that?

For future reference when a deal looks too good to be true it usually is. Best bet is to find someone knowledgeable and see if they can see flaws in your plan. No matter how much you have studied with large sized ideas a second, third, fourth etc opinion helps. Whilst you may have checked something twenty times others may be able to provide a different perspective that you weren't able to see yourself.
It happens a lot in EBANK forums when someone posts an idea. A seemingly fool-proof plan I post suddenly has a multitude of possible cons that I hadn't been able to factor in. |

Actually, owning up and bowing out is a complimentary. And as Ric said, whenever I think I'm brilliant I immediately demonstrate my genius by seeking someone to call me an idiot. |

More or less this, I pretty much assume anytime I post here that I'll be proved a moron.
..and its happened on occasion. Happens to all of us really. The better men own up to it. |

... don't let anyone get you down but if someone tells you your facts suck or your math is dodgy, immediately assume THEY are right and you are, in fact, a moron. :) |

Nothing wrong with admitting mistakes before the business started and calling it off.
Now if you had taken the cash bought the BPO and then tried to run the business you would have been hammered.

Don't beat yourself up; we've all had our share of algebraic errors over the years. God knows, I'm pretty famous for them among my friends.
This hasn't made me any less interested in future offers so drop me an eve-mail the next time you're looking for investors.

I can't believe the reserves in this thread, people obviously don't like their ISK.

I can only speak for myself but my reservation was pending some rather important information. To quote myself,
Originally by: Kwint Sommer Anyways, I'm interested and pending some info on who is holding what BPO's I could be wiling to invest quite a few billion.
Put me down for a 10% stake pending that info and I'm certainly willing to go higher.
A man with a good though somewhat insubstantial rep was offering a secured investment with good projected returns.
I signed up for a few billion pending crucial details.
The details came and turned out to be quite unfavorable. Hence, I didn't send a cent.
What did I do wrong?

i was thinking about the same :)
even after the op had stated that ipo had some errors in calculations and hence would not have any positivie results, people were making reservations.
funny
and all that after big sums that all of us have witnessed lately |

in what way it was a secured investment if it wasn't even calculated properly.
and i wonder what would happen if some md members wouldnt have pointed out some mistakes?
i remember there were some thoughts about pre-audit of an ipo.
i guess it would be just a case.

Well the actual assets wouldn't have been under the OPs control so the security of the investment would have been raised at least a little bit there.
In any event, its all moot now. |

I didn't bother doing an pre IPO audit because security wasn't really an issue, especially if the blueprint would have reside with a trusted person.
Audits are meant to verify history, flush out scammers, determine if the person is capable of doing the stated business plan and if the plan was viable. As it turned out, I'm no scammer, I'm capable but the plan wasn't viable. When I revealed what the blueprint was, everyone knew right off the bat that the plan wasn't going to work due to a key fact, something that I was completely blind to.
I guess I got too greedy |
