All I want to do is move 5 points from Charisma into Perception. That's all I really want.

If we minimized charisma at creation way back when, I wonder if well be able to take it even lower?
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

Well, if you ever needed points somewhere, I guess that's where I'd tell you to put them.

Charisma primarily affects how fast you train the Social skills, yes. Mostly, the Social skills either increase rewards from missioning (the various Connections skills), OR allow you to run missions for factions that hatew you - as long as they don't hate you too much (Diplomacy).
Charisma also affects the Leadership skills training time, so if you're trainign for things like command ships, orcas, gang ships, etc. then Charisma helps in the training time.
Being that training time is the ONLY thing the attributes affect, having the ability to slot points around via respecs will allow you to tailor your attributes to maximize their affects on whatever you're currently training - kinda destroys the RP angle, and without some kind of limiter would actually make the "specs" worthless.
Not having to live with the consequences of your choices after all, eliminates the need to choose wisely. Race and school choices become meaningless when you can shuffle your points around at will.
Not that all that's a BAD thing, now, it'll certainly become a min/maxer's heaven.

Johann: respeccing attributes once per toon lifetime for vets might be necessary. I mean, so much has changed in eve sind 2003, I would never have guessed that my CHA stat would suck soo much if its not the lowest one of them all....cha is a specialists stat every other stat is needed by everyone.

Only if your a complete crack head. There are few finer ways to destroy the individuatlity of characters in a game then allowing them to respec.

It depends on the specifics actually. Think if it'd be only a single point every 6 months, costing 500mil in 'surgery' as a ISK drain. |

If this is really going to happen, it will make a HUGE difference to my experience in this game. If it happens for the next expansion, then I don't think Apocrypha could get any better...
Base perception of 3 on a combat character is so extremely frustrating. And I know quite a few people that have this same problem.
I calculated a while ago, that if (at character creation) I had simply added 5 points into perception, instead of memory and intelligence (like I did), I would be saving nearly 2 months of training time every year. Not to mention if I had chosen another race instead of Intaki (darn Intaki curse)!
Anyways, here's hoping this idea actually comes through in March! |

My personal opinion is that skills learned by a character have about 2 million times bigger impact on character individuality than attributes that noone can even see but yourself. All attributes do is artificially delay you from learning skills. If after a respec most players choose same kind of attribute distribution, that is in my opinion proof that attribute system sucks. |

They're not talking about letting vets do it once
They're talking about vets doing it once at no chage. After that they can do it again...for a fee.
Depending on how much, and if it's in ISK or real money (dunno if the Icelandic kronur qualifies at this point :) it may be quite easy and profitable to repec at need.

Aand there we go, down the slippery slope to item malls and premium for-RL cash services.
It's not hard to imagine a for-pay SP redistribution service as a followup. After all, the new players coming here from lesser MMOs are used to respecs following major game changes.
Things definitely appear to be headed toward a New Game Experience for all. |

And trade skills. I thougth they would be important at character creation.

What about all of us who accepted our fate and dragged ourselves through the long skill trains due to attributes?
Will definitely be a boon for newer players, most everyone else probably already has the skills they want.
Can't wait to hear what kind of mumbo-jumbo they come up with to justify the ability to change core values (read: RP takes another hit).

I was under the impression that this was only re-asigning the 5 points you get at char creation that you can split +3 and +2 etc..
Not actually changing your base bloodline or race attribute line.
This is just my imprsssion though, but if I am right you all owe me 1 billion.

horrible idea.
removing attributes altogether is a good idea though. Let us all train skills as if we had every attribute at 25.
