I see no change, at least for myself. I never pay ransom, and I won't even if I flew a t3 ship in to a pirate camp. If I did, the result would be the same, t3 or not. I pay, they kill me and laugh, I go away, they receive hatemail. Nothing has changed. |

If CCP would only reconsider having this idea only apply to carebears but change it for us piraty pirate types everything would be well. That way it'd be risk vs rewards for teh bearz and we'd get some juicy hatemail from them when they go pop. It's a win-win... For us mean piwats . |

Then you need to move m8, if that's what passes for piracy in your area. Besides, people who don't pay on principle (when they know that they actually will be released) tend not to be the smarts pilots in the game. Waste hours making even more isk back then wandering around putting another ship back together vs. paying less, saving time and keeping ship intact. -------------------------

Edited by: Madner Kami on 09/02/2009 14:27:40 Is there somewhere a voice record for what the CCP dude said? If yes, then you should listen more precisely to what he says, if no, then the following applies:
T3 ships will gather "experience" during their duty. If the ship gets disassambled/reconfigured, then the ship's XP/SP are lost. Same applies when the ship is destroyed. Logically, if you eject from your ship, it doesn't loose it's XP.
Also it's just a proposition without beeing a definite decission yet. Geez, cool down and be level-headed until Apocrypha is released on Sisi.

frankly this SP loss thing dosent bother me
1-5 days of skill training lost to fly a T3 ship? it really wouldnt bother me to pay that penalty. i can fly what i want to fly anyway.
plus iv seen no figures (note i havent specifically looked/heard of any figures) as to how much these T3 ships will cost. if theyre 100 mill, and IF you get podded loose like, 1-5 days of T3 learning (i say 1-5 cause, skills 1-4 dont take long to learn, and due to the loss, youd be insane to get lvl 5 unless your over confident)
frankly if your afraid of loosing a little bit of SP amung loss then your a carebear. the SP is only for the T3 ships, not like ur gna loose out for your other ships

I am pretty sure that it is the "experience" that you lose, not SP. If what I remember reading is correct, they are trying to bring the whole "crew" notion into the game, for RP'ers or whatnot. So when you lose your ship, hence you lose the crew, and the experience that they have gained under your command. Now you have to go out and buy a new crew, or enslave, and start over.
Again, this is what I "remember" reading with no regards as to how much I might have drunk either before or during that period. But I think that makes much more sense.

There will always be players who will give you ISK with the foolish belief that you'll actually honor a ransom. |

Edited by: Kaileen Starsong on 11/02/2009 11:25:56 Tbh, it's all about how good these T3 ships would be. If it's cruiser-sized platform with BC+ capabilities and some specific bonuses(like dual sensor types), then why not? SP loss is only meaningful for people who are pretty much generalized in their SPs, if you already can fly everything you need/want, there's not much point in SP total raising
Alas, if they're kinda equivalent to HACs(as in, oh so dead when they meet pvp-fit BC), they would be kind of worthless.

OH! (duh)
I was about to add to the "T3 is failsause" sentiment and then it hit me. What reward could justify this risk? And I remembered reading some of those chronicles and seeing that super-weapon in one of the videos. Perhaps T3 ships will allow you to fit that bad boy. (For those who haven't seen it, it looks like an area of effect weapon the jumps from enemy to enemy.)
I mean there's going to have to be SOME reason to fly these things other than the "this is new" value, right? I bet that weapon is it!

Er. What sarcasm tags? Realistically speaking, you shouldn't use sarcasm in text-only communication, as it is not reasonable to expect people to get it when tone-of-voice is not available.
Sure, some people MIGHT get it, in which case you can sit contentedly at your screen, knowing that your witicism was not wasted; however, if someone specifically doesn't get it, its more your fault than theirs (for trying to use form of language which isn't supported by the transmission medium). |

How would losing SP bring back ransoms?
If you are sitting in a locked down T3 ship, and someone is demanding ransom, do you think for even one second he won't pop you 1 nanosecond after you wire him the cash, just to get a T3 ship on the kill mail?
Heck, you'd be lucky if someone even stopped shooting holes in your T3 ship to demand a ransom at all.
These days it's all about the kill mail. The sooner you realize that, the better.
Ransoms are a joke, and rarely ever honored, unless you fly something crappy like anything T1. -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

Not true at all. I honor every ransom, although I rarely ransom inexpensive ships. But anything that is T2 or a BC or larger, I'll probably demand a ransom.
