This statement is entirely false. Why you ask?
Secondary and tertiary accounts. Due to the one character training limit. Alot of people have purchased two or more accounts. My friend I know counts for 5 people in the subscriber base.
While i do not know the ratio it seems a common thing to have 2 or more accounts among higher end players, And with those who have more than two their might be as little as 100000 "real" people playing eve.
What i wish to discuss in this post is what that exact ratio is. I have nothing but respect for CCP but i wish to know how many people actually play.

CCP has actualy stated 500+ accounts hasn't it? and advertises 250k + on the assumption of 2 accounts for some with the 3+ balancing out single accounts and inactive. |

Regurgitating the same old argument that gets puked on the forum every few weeks doesn't make you a smart guy. More the opposite actually.

I would suggest that EVE has a greater proportion of multiple account users than any other major MMO.
Having played most of the biggest MMO's, EVE is really the one that stands out in terms of the gameplay lending itself to the use of multiple accounts. I've never encountered frequent use of additional accounts in any other MMO but I see it consistently in EVE. Therefore I find the proposition that the use of multiple accounts in EVE is no different than what happens in other MMO's as totally absurd.
Does this means EVE subscription numbers and concurrent user records are false. Not at all. I just guess some poeple are a little curious as to where were at with actual player numbers and there is really no solid information out there on this.
For me the more players taking part in a player driven economy the more interesting and vibrant it is.

It's fine, just get used to it. Every post is treated as a troll until proven otherwise around here. |

Don't worry OP. When I purchase a controlling share of CCP I'll eliminate all alts and ban everyone who complains. Admittedly the fact that CCP is not publicly traded presents a roadblock in this plan.

CCP is probably the only company in Iceland trading profitably right now.
