If you lose skill levels every ship destruction on one random sub-system, and it takes a week (eg lev 5) to get it back, presumably you either need :
(a) a much bigger pilot roster (b) CCP to give back the skill level after the fight
Also,
Is a fight between tech1/2 vs tech 3 likely to be balanced ? meaningful ? How long will it take to be tech 3 competent ? expert ?
On the upside, an all-tech 3 tourney could have a whole new depth, but the rules might need quite a bit of thought. In fact, might it not be a good idea for the AT7 rules to be defined re: tech 3 before Apochrypha launch, so ppl intending to field tournament chars don't waste time on irrelevant skills ?
Just curious. |

Why? You don't have to have level 5 to fly the ship (well at least I hope not). And besides, with a week between pool rounds you can retrain it for those.
For the elimination then if you lose it doesn't matter. ok if you win but are destroyed then there's a slight performance penalty. Will just add another layer a strategy to the fights imo.

or just eject and lose nothing.

do you really think ccp is that dumb? i dont think you can get around the sp loss if you eject before the ship gets killed... i bet you will still lose the sps, even when its just floating in space. its the same with the killmails, you still get a lossmail when an emtpy ship of yours gets blown up. if this is not the case, then the whole mechanic would be pointless War, war never changes |

Edited by: Jilly Serkov on 09/02/2009 14:19:16 @Pigboy - I was watching eve TV and KIAEddz asked him if you could save the skill loss by ejecting and he said yes. Maybe he was caught off guard and this will be fixed before implementation. The idea of pilots ejecting in the tournament, or anywhere for that matter .... lame.
So then, what happens if you self destruct a T3 ship ? One skill loss or all of them (as a deterrent)?
And as for T1/2 vs T3 I was asking from the perspective of non-sub system ships fighting sub-system ships. I guess it is only an issue if the sub-systems are targetable - then again, I thought that was one goal of CCP with tech 3. If sub system targetting comes in, then presumably tech 1 and tech 2 hulls will have to have subsystem attributes coded in so that the combat is apples vs apples.
Perhaps I am just mad, and missing watching the tournament.
Guess I better go dig round the blogs to see if any of this stuff has been discussed.
