Right now the kill mails are ok, but I realy think there are a few things missing.
Name of the one who got killed in the text area, not just in the subject. Name of the corp of the one who got killed
and maybe something else people can come up with, mostly nice to have so when creating a kill database to keep it as automatic as possible, so just select all text, paste in input box and then submit should be enough.

Exporting the killmails into a known / parseable format (CSV, XML, whatever) would be absolutely perfect if it included all the needed info of course.

Any corp/alliance that engages in a lot of PVP would benefit from this. Once killmails are easily parseable into a DB it becomes real easy to generate simple little reports about what ships were killed, who killed who, how many ships lost, when, where, etc, etc, etc... Beats entering all the info manually any day.
And I tend to use a real live person of the opposite sex before bed, dunno about you.

csv would be best hate making xml parsers
would be enough to have that info at the bottom of each kill mail, compacted that way people would just have to do ctrl+a in the kill mail and then ctrl+v in the text field and then the parser would just ignore each line untill it would hit a marker to say that the csv were starting.
or something like that

Yah, im not too worried bout the exact method really, just as long as writing a parser for it isn't too complicated. Exporting to external programs might be handy though, so thought I'd bring it up since theres a thread about it in Patch Review

Every chance I get...
Just seems like this kill data is more for ego boosting than anything else...
Kinda like Frag counts on an FPS server... I guess I don't view EVE as that kind of game, maybe the PK'ers do... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

In a long drawn out war it's important to know how well/badly your doing. Keeping a track of Kills and losses is very important.

Trust me, I'm not going to be boosting my ego by accurately recording my kills versus deaths

It's also quite fun to read
One main function that could be usefull for bigger alliances is to see who and what corp is activly participating in the fighting etc (as all involved parties are shown in the mails).
Probably more functions that it can be used for too...
Just because something is fixed doesn't mean you can't break it

would be best though when the allaince system comes out that the head of the alliance would be able to export a list of all kills by membercorpmates.
Perhaps be able to export each week at a time, so one day a week he would be able to update the allaince web page with the new csv info.
would also minimise the performance hit the database takes.

Kinda why I'm b!tching about this...
The more bells, whistles & trinkets CCP gives you guys, the slower the servers get...
This game already has enough doo-dads, I think they need to trim off some excess fat, not add more...
I can see how it's important for alliances & corps who are at war. I just don't want to see some CCP programmer go off on a tanget, and add bunch more email sh!t and slow down the game even more...
I've alreday had enough of the emails from myself about skill training...
They need to dump that useless data afaic... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |
