Alright I'm really confused at the difference between premium light, premium and classic.
From what I understood, premium light is supposed to run the same models as Premium just at much lower textures etc.
Classic is supposed to be discontinued and you cannot even use the classic client to update for the test server and I had to download premium.
So I downloaded premium ran it, and logged into the station. It looked like the Premium station with **** graphics, which is fine. I assumed that was premium light.
So I messed around with some settings and spotted the SM 2.0 Lo setting and assumed that was premium light. I turned it off undocked in my harb (amusing that apparently they saved my account before I had got my BC blown up in a run in with a Brutix).
Now when I undocked it looked like classic (probably because I had turned off that Scene 2 setting). So I warped to an empty area in space (no moons / stations etc nearby) and turned the Scene 2 / SM 2.0 Low on. And restarted the client.
As soon as I logged in the client crashed and burned. I tried again to check if I would get the same result and I did. I turned off Scene 2 and logged in and everything worked fine.
Now what I'm trying to understand is:
Premium Light = Scene 2 on with SM 2.0 Low / High Classic = Scene 2 off
Basicly, if my comp cant handle premium light (or apparently can only handle it inside the station) thats fine I'll just have to live inside the station and login only for skill changes for a few months while I save up for new laptop and/or build a new rig. Just need help understanding which setting = what. ...

Premium Light = Scene 2 OFF at all Premium = Any Scene 2 setting, although SM 3 / Hi is the intended one.
At least that is to my understanding. And yes, there's a client restart required for that. ----- Why doesn't anyone ever read the forums before posting?

Scene 2 off = Classic Scene 2 on SM2 = Premium lite Scene 2 on SM3 = Premium
And for me Premium lite is bugged like hell, no ships visible, no textures on planets, clouds not visible, no light and missing textures in the stations and so on.

Scene 2 is a button there for testing and will be removed soonÖ
If you enable scene two and the SM 2 settings, THAT will be premium light.

This is correct, though, if you can run it in station, it's highly likely the crashes are related to something else. It's kinda buggy atm. _

Oh right. I wasn't even aware that classic content was still in the client. My bad :/ ----- Why doesn't anyone ever read the forums before posting?

As mentioned above: Scene2 with SM 2.0 LO or HI is Premium Lite Scene2 with SM 3.0 LO or HI is Premium that can be compared to the one currently used on TQ.
Please perform your day-to-day testing with Scene2 enabled. As we get closer to release, the Scene2 option will be enabled permanently and the option to disable it will be removed from the menu altogether. |

Do you have ANY idea how weak the 2D capabilities of todays graphic cards are? If you got a wireframe EVE, it would have such graphical lag it's not even funny. Ridiculus? Yes, but true story :D ----- Why doesn't anyone ever read the forums before posting?

The problem with this suggestion is that the workaround to half of the issues people are having on Sisi right now is "turn off Scene2."

I seem to be having some problems and wanted to know if its just me or if this is a issue that is going around with others as well.
I have a laptop with an ATI Radeon x1250 which only supports Shader 2.0. When I turn on the 'Scene 2' on the low setting the background image of space is all blurred and not showing up correctly.
However, if I turn it off I can see the background image in space just fine. Is this a issue for anyone else?
Also, from what I have read the prem lite version will run on Shader 2.0 once the update comes out. According to my understanding shader 3.0 will NOT be the min system requirement as of yet. Is this still the case? |

Sorry about the word, but im so screwed if this happens the way scene2 is atm. Im getting massive fps drop when scene2 is enabled and i also get weird bugs with graphics. Game is just unplayble. Inside station situation gets worse, and generally when the screen has many textures to render fps drops to 3-4, now add on top of that 30-40 (not to mention big fleets with 500 ships) more ships and we have an unplayble game despite all the imporvements on drone models etc. SH2 cards just cant handle those textures you made.... |
