Or like my friend continued playing DaoC just so he could give it back tenfold to that son of ***** who scammed him!

1. It appeared that the developers actually put some manner of thought into the game. You look at other games in the MMOG genre, they're the same bloody thing that has been done to death since the days of text-based MUDs. Only now they have shiny graphics, woo hoo. Doesn't matter if you start in Midgard, Brittania, Neriak or Camelot, your goal in life is to beat up ridiculously large insects with a stick. EVE isn't like that. EVE is different.
2. To find a labslot. I expect within the next six months, I might find one! --- Having recently acquired a lab slot (thank you, rental bug), I wholeheartily concur, there's absolutely no problem with lab slots! |

Q1: Why did you start playing EVE?
I went into GAME in Sunderland looking to buy a game like Elite and came across Eve Online: the Second Genesis.
The graphics looked good and the blurb on the back sounded very good. Hooked ever since. I just wish Shiva was here already.
Q2: Whats the sole reason you keep playing EVE?
Gullibility.

1.) Because at last there is a game without faires and swords and orcs and gold pieces, etc... EVE is a thinking person's game and I like that.
2.) The Skill Point system and the people I meet in game. Also, the PvP aspect of EVE, the pure adrenaline rush from flying an interceptor against a cruiser or battleship while dodging all manner of harm is second to none. -

1. To get away form the elves and orcs
2. For alot of reasons. I love the depth and player driven world (which makes for little pve tho, but i dont mind much). I absolutely love the community (less dribbling 24/7 13 year old schoolskippin insomniacs with a bad attitude here). I love the promise Eve holds, it's uniqueness in being a game that can change very much while being steered by its players and their ways of dealing with the game.
Oh, and finding friends in Eve shouldnt be hard, most are awfully decent folk. _______________________________________________

1 - it's the closest thing to Elite since, erm, Elite 1 - Battlefield 1942 was replaced by Battlefield Vietnam, which is sh1t (too many yanks and no spitfires). Thus i had nothing to do.
2a - there is no alternative of the same quality or depth 2b - Tolkien did dragons and trolls. He was the only one who did it right. 2c - the skill training system, whilst irritating for short skills is better than the alternative, and takes over your life marginally less than level-grinding

Edited by: Harkan Ramientes on 05/08/2004 10:47:55 1) depth: the map is huge and I'm not bound to a single style of combat/job..I've played too many games where you create a character and if you want to change a little bit you have to make another one vanishing days or month of level grinding hitting the same mob 493892874984372987 times
2) no level grinding, although money is the "powerplayer" aspect of the game, the ways to amass it are enough different to not bore you to hell, added with a well balanced learning curve/time in skill training (although sometime I wake up at night crying "NOOOOH!! FORGOT MEH SKILLZ!!")
3)CCP striving to add always more and more depth...the planned Shiva feature is huge and revolutionary...exactly what I need to stick around for another year
4)Community...be them gentlemen, self righteous arrogant, smacktalkers, piratical psychopaths, swore enemies or unfailing friends this game can really drive you to the closest concept of "friendship" available on the net

Because Eve is not the creation of a huge faceless corporation under the heel of greedy suits. It is not a souless fart designed solely to make money from 'sad computer geeks'. It was (is being :p) made in a tiny office in Iceland and is a work of art and the embodiment of a dream, not an 'MMOG'.
And there are a load of Brits, not overwhelming swarms of Koreans / Americans / Germans :) ------------

Q1: Why did you start playing EVE?
Cause i got bored of the mindless monotony of EQ and DAoC, and i was in the beta so i knew that EVE was an alternative.
Q2: Whats the sole reason you keep playing EVE?
Because i can advance in it when i go fishing with my friends ie. I dont play as much as i used to, but EVE fits my playstyle perfectly. If i want to do long periods of playing, i do that. If not, i do that too and its Ok cause i lose nothing. Besides, its pretty and i like the thinking and experimenting that goes into finding a working setup for my shiny new toy.

Q1: I'm a long-time Jumpgate player, but many of my online friends have come over to EVE, so I thought I'd check it out.
Q2: Now that I finally, finally have a combat-viable ship, I wanna see if PvP is any good.
