Edited by: PaulLRyan on 06/08/2004 06:39:23 to be honest they gather dust in my hanger. I try quick sell but as with most things you get that warning that you are about to sell something for 0.000000001 isk against an average of something in the hundreds so they just sit there.
I have not done the maths but I'm sure you could make a profit puting up buy orders that were reasonable.
There are two things about the market that really annoy me. Buy orders for a price that nobody will accept and buy orders for an amount in the millions which seems to stop you selling your stuff to anyone else, even at a lower price.

I guess it depends what you wanna do in the game. I wanna blow stuff up and I'm not gonna spend ages moving things about. If I can get a reasonable price where I get them then I'm happy to sell em on and let the other guy profit by moving them. I refuse to give them away and would rather just trash em than sell at sill prices.
When I first started and really needed isk I noticed that my agent was giving out shuttles and was located in a station with a reprocessing plant. There wer lots of buy orders up for shuttles at 1 isk and other stupidly low numbers. I just put up a but order for 1000 isk and reprocessed all I got and sold the trit. Made some money that way by not being too gready. I also mae a huge mistake one day and put up a system wide buy order by accident. It took months to shift all the shuttles not at a station that could reprocess them

I see. The player-driven commodities market envisioned with Castor must be working perfectly then
Well see the problem is I can earn a lot more by doing another agent mission than by moving the stuff and I refuse to give it away (by selling at 1 isk) so it gets trashed to avoid my assets tab becoming too confusing. If there happens to be a decent offer on the quick sell then I sell.
I have found in my limited experince with EVE (about 4 months or so) that once you get past that horrible stage (where even the cost of a single small carbonised lead round is important) that I don't really need that much isk.
For me personally it goes like this...
Can I buy another intercepter if I break this one.... Yes Can I keep myself in ammo and missiles..... Yes
So should I spend all night trying to make a few isk from what's lying around in my hanger of go shoot something else?
hmmmm, prepare the claw for takeoff......
PL
PS - That is not to disrespect those that do play the market and produce stuff. All I'm trying to say is that, given current game mechanics, I can't see a player driven market actually working.

Have you tried putting them on sale yourself at a lowish price (>1 isk < 75% NPC sale)? That way you at least get something for it if someone sees what you have on offer. )
To be honest no I don't but then my agents tend to be a long way from highway systems so someone would probably have to be pretty dedicated to come out and get em. Might just do that in future and then trash em if they drop back into my assets tab after 3 months. |
