...ok now i'm seriously thinking of starting minmatar and crossing over to gallente...or amarr i can't decide...
if i cross over to amarr it'll kill me in the role playing sense...i'll be ammatar XD ...that sucks..
...and if i go gallente i'll have to train drone skills and railguns instead of just plain old simple lasers :p ..so there's my doubt

Minmatar galente is a bettre mix then minmatar amarr
AMarr needs lazers armor tanking and capacitor skills
Gallente needs drones, hybrids and armor tanking
you will use drones are also used on minmatar ships as is armor tanking.

i was thinking of making a new topic for this but i think i can post this here...
The Machariel battleship...it has bonuses for both gallente and minmatar BS skill...
How do i get the ship?

1) Buy it from contracts for an obscene amount of ISK.
2) Work for it by working for the pirats that make it, Angels I think. That's gonna make you pretty unpopular with most of empire though.

Yes. I did in the 7th Post.
Your characters race has to do with the backstory and your portrait. Even if you want to change your portrait later on, you are still stuck with the race (and gender) you originally chose. So don't pick one you cant live with indefinitely.

I am in the process of switching to Gallente faction right now. But I'll still be flying Caldari ships, and I'll never have a fruity looking Gallente portrait.

Pretty much, yeah.
If you don't care about portrait/backstory, just use an optimal template for whatever it is you want to do, and go from there. There are some template characters here: http://www.eve-guides.com/chargen/index.php

Yes. How important is it for you to be a Minmatar character?
In the long run, their "advantage" will be next to nothing. Starting skills don't make that big a difference in the long run. And there is nothing they can do that you also couldn't do eventually.

IMO, yes. But a lot of people on here will look at you like you are insane for choosing a race simply based on the portrait/background story. It depends on what you want out of the game.
If your main goal is to be really good at something as soon as possible, then do research and figure out the optimal build. Otherwise, pick what you like and start training skills in the direction you want to go.

Yeah, if I was going for looks alone, Amarr do have the coolest looking ships (and weapons) in the game. Nothing beats lasers.

...to answer your question....is being minmatar important to me? Yes, it's my favorite race and i can see myself as minmatar easier than the other races...
oh and what do you suggest me to pick?
from a minmatar starting point should i switch to gallente or amarr? and why? ..and i'm asking for your opinion so pls don't give me answers like choose what suits your play style most :p

I cant make the choices for you because I don't know you. I don't know what it is you like. You'll have to research the various races and decide what you like.
In general, Caldari seem to be the choice for PvE, and Amarr for PvP. But thats extremely generalized. If you want a jack-of-all-trades race, stick with Minmatar.

You mentioned the 3 but not the Gallente? Do you have any opinions on the gallentean ships?

I don't have any experience with them. Gallente specialize in drones, so their ships tend to have larger than normal drone bays, And some of them give bonuses to drones. A lot of PvPers use Gallente ships. They also get bonuses for Hybrid turrets and they are geared in favor of armor tanking.
I have a Gallente alt I use as scouting fodder for when my main has to venture into lowsec. They probably have the coolest looking ships after the Amarr (except for their frigates, which are all fugly).

You have to have brains to be a good Minmatar. You need higher skill points. If you are more brawn and less brain, choose one of the other three races.
Some of the others have described the reasons why. A lot of it has to do with the layout of the low and mid slots.
