What if CCP were to create random characters, spawn some ISK on them, and buy PLEX/GTC off the open market?
Could potentially be one of the most profitable things a company has ever done. Sell you Game Time, then buy that Game Time back with something that has no value and they can create from nothing.
Discuss.

Lets look at it this way
1. Plex system implements a way for CCP to easily remove this game time from the system by buying it and having it sit in hangers.
2. Plex system implemented as Iceland economy begins to tank. Making it easier for CCP to make their profits.
3. Epic trolling by CCP in this thread to divert the attention away from the point it makes.

Why? As stated, it would only increase the isk value of the plexes (i.e. limited supply vs. average demand).
This would make it so more people would buy PLEX, as they would get more ISK for their dollar. And even if these plex sit on the market, that's still game time that has been bought and not used. Since what CCP is giving people for these plex is actually free for them, they don't care how much they cost.

To all you who are saying that them doing this would ruin the economy. I am not necessarily saying they are buying up almost every PLEX or GTC that hits the market. Say for example they bought 2 everyday, that would be over 700 plex, or about $12500 USD or so. Which I agree with those who are going to tell me that $12500 is nothing to CCP. But this is just an example, and that's $12500 of completely FREE money for CCP. Completely free, basically they would just be selling ISK for money.
If it were done on this small a scale, it would not even touch the economy. But those who argue that GTC and plex would be incredibly highly priced if CCP did this, all I have to say is that for the last 8 months GTC, and PLEX, since their introduction have been on a steady rise in price.
Then you have to consider, does CCP really care about the ingame economy? It suffers from inflation as it is, which is just continuing to drive up the price of GTC, which works in CCPs favor. (the more GTC/PLEX are worth, the more incentive to buy) Then as this increased supply hits the market, CCP can just buy them up to stop prices from dropping. CCP can completely regulate the GTC market if they are the majority buyers of GTCs.
All I'm really suggesting is that CCP have ingame, a method for them to basically sell ISK to players. In a way that disguises it. I'm disappointed to see CCP take a thread like this so lightly and troll it like they have and would prefer to see a proper statement from CCP.

You seem to think I'm saying CCP is buying EVERY single PLEX/GTC that hits the market. That is not at all what I am saying. Only that they are buying a majority or at least some of them.

Yeah, you can tell a similar story. This drives PLEX prices up so it drives the player who is on the margin out of the market, reducing playerbase size.
Based on the way PLEX and GTC continue to rise anyway, and player base continues to grow daily, I don't think your argument holds water. CCP could essentially keep the market at whatever price they want to. Maximizing profits, while also maximizing player base.

Why would CCP possibly want to spawn gametime and essentially give it away? You are missing the point of this thread entirely. They aren't just trying to hoard up the PLEX because they want to see a large number of them in their hanger, your post would be correct if this were true. They spawn the ISK, to buy the PLEX that they sold for REAL MONEY. Therefore they are selling gametime, for real money, then buying it back with something they can get for free and never use it. Now you have vast amounts of gametime being bought and never used. Which means massively more profits for CCP.

CCP could even go as far as to use a name that would resemble a macro-miner. And when the process the macro-miner banning batch. Ban the account with all the PLEX in its hanger and call it a macro-miner, and no one would question it. Meanwhile they are effectively removing the game time from the game in what looks like a completely legitimate fashion.
