So,
I'm training my way up to a Zealot and have been mulling over fitting options for the boat both PVE (wh) and PVP and I thought I'd ask a few questions on here to see if any worthwhile answers might be forthcoming.
#1 Can you fit a CovOps Cloak on a HAC?
#2 I know it is customary to fit plates for PVP but I'm thinking I'd like to Nano Fit instead to increase my manueverability and rely on the killer armor resists to keep me alive.
It would look Something like this:
HIGH Heavy Pulse II Heavy Pulse II Heavy Pulse II Heavy Pulse II Heavy Pulse II
MED WEB II SCRAM II 10MN AB II
LOW EANMS II EANMS II EANMS II DC II Med Repper II Nano Fiber II Nano Fiber II

#1 No. Improved cloaks are your limit.
#2 Afterburning nano fit? There's a reason you don't often see those.
Now, I'm not one to throw out a concept out of hand, but I'm wondering what targets you're envisaging picking a fight against, and winning? I mean, on the face of it you're not particularly tough, and you don't have a great deal of firepower, and you really do risk having a smaller ship get beneath your guns due to the lack of dronebay.
Most MWD fit cruisers will be capable of 'standing off' at point range, and - whilst scorch pulses do have a very impressive range - you'll probably find that most other 30km cruisers can trade fire with you with impugnity, and just leave if the fight isn't going their way. |

#1 Awesome! Thanks!
#2 This is exactly why I brought it up, as for targets I admit I hadn't given it too much thought yet. I was going to avoid a MWD becuase fo the Cap costs etc vs the AB but I hadn't discounted it entirely. Typically I wasn't going to go around looking for fair fights to be honest and I was going to avoid T2 and T3 ships if I could and mainly prey on T1 targets of opportunity.
Would a MWD make more sense? Would Plates? Both? |

There are a few ways to fit the zealot, some involving nanos, some involving afterburners, some even involving shield tank. However i haven't seen many armor nano fits. Can't give you any particular fits from top of my head, haven't flown one for ages. This particular fit could work in pve, but you're lacking damage a lot. Ah, you seek meaning?-áThen listen to the music, not the song. |

Losing cap to a MWD and having a sig bloom is a drawback, certainly. But it's still one of the most popular modules to be fitting to a ship, for the simple reason that mobility scales linearly - more of it is always good, almost regardless of gang size. It's not _always_ a module that you must have, but it merits consideration - I think of my PvP fits, only a very small fraction run on AB, and none of those are cruisers.
Losing cap _does_ hurt, but most PvP fights are shockingly short in duration. And really, when you get shafted on cap, that'll usually be by offensive cap warfare, and so how much you have is largely irrelevant.
Active tanking tends not to be favoured for the same reason - look how long you have to run your repper, before it 'catches up' with an equivalent plate. You need to survive that long, be taking fire for most of that time frame, and to not have been capped out in order for that to be worth it. It doesn't often work that way - unlike PvE, the vast majority of PvP fits put out more firepower than they can tank. There's exceptions, but as a rule, that's the way it is. Sometimes by as much as an order of magnitude. |

What about using a navy omen instead? If you only have HAC 4 you get similar damage and a drone bay. You do get slightly less range though and it is cheaper. |
