Here are my views on the various origins of the major races.
Gallente - Obviously French... everything about the Gallente lifestyle indicates this. Freedom, consumer market, politically active citizens, and French-ish names.
Intaki - TBH I havent got a clue... I dont think anyone does. They remind me of zen buddhists, what with the meditation and tranquil, serene homes.
Amarr - They were descended from a group of christian missionaries, thats pretty much it. So they are likely a whole mix of various ethnic groups.
Ni-Kunni - Jewish... they hoard money.  Not sure though. Probably some Arabic too.
Caldari - As a whole I'd say they are very Finnish/Icelandic with their language, their economy just screams 1980's Japan, though.
Brutor - Well, Africans, of course.
Sebestior - I'm thinking Arabic - Central Asia. Some of them are nomads, and this fits some Central Asian cultures.

IMO CCP made a big mistake by mentioning the historical origins of the Gallente, especially as it leads to futile (and usually damaging) comparisons.
Last thread like this got locked IIRC.
Ultimately it shouldn't matter. Eve's a space-age game set way in the future; treat it as such.

Americans are obviously in the game. However they have altered themselves beyond hteir original European origins and have technology beyond the imagination. I am speaking of course of the Jove Empire. Who else could influence the world so much with its technology and be the most powerful force without being decendents of the Americans

This is a stupid topic... why? because amarrians are descendant from a religious group, not a race.
Religious groups are generally (not always) a mixture of races, the amarrians descended from a Roman Catholic Christian background which is a multi-racial religious group theeby making a set location difficult to pin down.
Based upon the facial appearances of the amarr i would guess they look a bit southern europeanish... but it is hard to tell, especially as that group of peoples have spread around a lot and intermarried with other groups.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Like it or not but...
-Gallenteans look like americans. If you just have a look to their political system you'll directly see that it's obviously closer to america as a Federal State than to France which is NOT a federation at all. Also the stuff between their president and Senate... Also their ideals... Also the recent news concerning the UDI... Gallenteans are obviously closer to american rather than to french. Of course I'm not using as a comparison the stupid stereotypes some might use to make their comparison.
-Amarr look like old China. First, it's their hair style which look like old China. Second, their emperor. Third their huge territory. But also amarrian take their sources in other cultures concerning slavery. Amarr are in fact a pretty custom civilisation created by ccp.
-Caldari are obviously Japaneese. It was the wish from ccp in the beginning to give them an "asian" look but it didn't work pretty well. Also their corporations reminds us Japan. The Gallente-Caldari war could somehow remind the USA-Japan war, in fact a novel speaks about the sacrifice of a Caldari pilot who crashed his ship over some Gallente town. However, once again it's a pretty custom civilisation. 
-Minmatar... Well... IMO the most custom civilization created by ccp. Especially their war against the amarr...
In the end, some civilisation in Eve might look like some IRL civilisation, but they are all pretty custom and there is not true rule.

nice points, but unfortunately the origin of the gallente is not up for debate at all since it has already been explicity stated by ccp (the folks that invented the gallente) that gallente are directly decended from France, which means they did not in any way come from america (unless you believe that in the far future france will invade and annex america i suppose). also keep in mind that eve is 22,000 years in the future, so the french/gallente could have adopted or changed their political system a hundred times over in that time.
