Hi ; Playing eve for 2.5 months now and i think i played it enough to learn that : Engineering increases the PG, Electronics increases the CPU, Weapon upgrades decreases the cpu need of weapons and Advanced W. U. decreases the power need of weapons.
My questions is with all these skills at lvl 5 ( ofc in EFT ) my power and cpu is never enough with most of the loadouts given in battleclinic. I even tried maxing the "affecting the skill" of the modules used in that loadouts ( i know that most of them has nothing to do with cpu or power.. ) but it didnt help.. So..Pls help me...

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 13/02/2009 13:11:08 There's some implants which help with fittings, but the main thing is that you're reading stuff posted by other ppl. And most people being stupid ret@rdo idiots you'll get the stupid ret@rded fits.
setups that can't possibly fit setups which make no sense setups which use a tactic that only works in theory setups that only work when hell freezes over, if that happens on a saturday, in march and you have to sing 'Mary had a little lamb' backwards setups that just aren't logical setups made by EFT warriors who look at EHP and DPS numbers and, because they're too thick to actually understand anything more than that, think that maximizing both numbers makes for a good fit setups that cost billions, on a frigate setups that aren't useful for your situation
In other words; people are generally stupid and like to post epeen stuff, if only to see themselves post. And you actually listen to what they have to say... It's the same thing on the ship&modules forum, lots of illogical setups that make NO sense whatsoever.

In other words, fit what you *can* fit in a setup that you are personally happy with. That is, a setup that fits your fighting style, arena and risk-preference :) |

If its true the real idiots are the guys who give "thumbs up" for all these loadouts before trying them. I know a little about the implants you talked about but most of them are too expensive while all i want is to fit a frigate for pvp..( 100+mil for extra 3 dps ? no thank you )

Edited by: Tzar''rim on 13/02/2009 13:46:06 And that's exactly my point; idiot people making idiot suggestion which just aren't realistic, they only post because... well they're idiots and for the "look what I can fit, look at MEEEH!!!!".
If you're looking for a proper fit, state what you need it for, what your intended target/tactic is and I'm sure some sane people will post a realistic fit. That or just contact me ingame, I'm one of those sane people MUHAHAHAHA!

This should be a pop-up warning when you load a battle clinic fit into Eve Mon. "You kids have it easy, in my day Trolls had to use bridges." |

The best use of EFT is as a reference tool for ships and mods based on your own personal SP amount. When people go EFT Warrioring/Forum posting they tend to use the "All to 5" option which is complete BS. About Zero people fit into that category. They will use implants that cost billions and faction mods that cost several billion. I believe one guy recently posts a Passive Drake fit that topped out at 45ish Billion and even then was a horrible setup.
The Battleclinic load outs can be a base setup for you to use when setting up your ship. Lots of them use T2 mods, but most new plays will not see a solid T2 fit for several months. If you see a T2 mod that you cannot use then simply get the best T1 named mod you can afford. Many of the PvE setups are often overkill for what you really need. The perma boosted XL Raven is always a good example. It is overkill on the tank, lacks DPS, but can be a good model to base your first few Ravens off of until you get a real feel for the ship and learn how to fly it.
As you get more familiar with ships and mods EFT becomes your test bed and you shouldn't even need to look at the battle clinic setups. Once you know your ship and how to fit it, EFT just gives you the numbers and test bed before you spend the ISK.

I use eft primarily to see if I can actualy make a fitting Idea work w/ my current skills, before I go and buy the mods just to find out I'm short a couple teraflops of cpu. And I'm lazy at doing my own math.

Thank you for your answers. Since i am mission running for 2 months i can fit a effective ship for pve and till now my fittings work like they should be.But unfortunately trying pvp setups is impossible because of my lack of experience and the sites like "battleclinic loadout" works like a good guideline for newbs like me.At least they give a general idea about "what to fit and why" But the interesting point is , as far as i know battleclinic doesnt allow ppl to post passive drake setups anymore but they allow ppl to post loadouts named "534860317 dps incursus" |

I guess the best answer would be "don't go to Battleclinic". |

Battle clinic is okay to get a general idea and EFT is an awesome pre-purchase tool - as a poster above has stated he uses the program before buying anything to make sure it all fits.
In my early days, I wish I knew about EFT. I can't begin to tell you how many modules I've bought fitting some ships to find out that I am .4 TF CPU short.
It would be nice if battle clinic had an option to filter out posts that had "I don't fly this ship, but..." in them. |

I like BattleClinic (and Scrapheap challenge). I don't necessarily agree with the ratings each setup gets. I do read the top post, which explains how the setup is meant to be used, and the other posts, which raise objections, clarifications, etc.
What I hate is when a setup intended for one purpose is criticized because it isn't good for some other purpose. I also hate when people criticize setups they haven't tried because some principle they go by says it's wrong; there's always someone who will dis a blasteranis, for example, smugly observing that any interceptor fighting within web range is toast, or they criticize a small-blaster Thorax, pointing out it gets a bonus for medium guns.
The point is not to simply adopt a setup unless you "get it," and to understand what each module is there for, why this or that module is used instead of some other, etc.

In addition to implants, you can also maximize fitting with Shield upgrades and Energy grid upgrades. etc

also some fittings have offline modules to either act as heatsinks, or for after battle use.

And remember, when you use EFT, there is an option for you to Import your own character into the program so that you can see what fits WITH YOUR EXISTING SKILLS. Useful.

Scrapheap Challenge is good for loadouts but more especially for commentary on loadouts. Remember that a lot of things that are near fits may work with best-named modules. These can almost always shave off a little bit of the CPU requirement and sometimes the powergrid. Also there are rigs and implants that help with fitting.
