As of recently (but can't really say exactly how long, probably about 2-3 weeks), I've been having an issue where if EVE and Firefox are running concurrently (EVE in windowed mode), both stutter. In EVE, this is manifested as lag in the interface (for example, moving the mouse down a list of items in a container has the effect of the highlighted item lagging behind the mouse as you drag the mouse up and down, and frequent "mini freezes", where the cursor gets stuck as you're moving it for a fraction of a second.
Pretty much the same happens in Firefox, but it doesn't seem as pronounced/annoying.
If I close either, the other one then works fine.
The problem seems less pronounced (but not totally gone) if I switch EVE to full screen mode.
My computer is up to date, with all the latest Windows Updates, and drivers. Intel Core2 Duo E6300, 2GB Ram, ATI XT1900 graphics card, Windows XP SP3.
Has anyone else come across this, any tips?
Thanks in advance.

hey, thanks for the replies.
still happening on mine, it's VERY annoying... i have firefox and eve on my laptop too, and don't notice this problem there... so, it's something else, even though it only happens when both are running
either on it's own, and it's fine... weird.

Open up Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) when running EVE and Firefox and check what your CPU hogs are (Processes Tab, click on CPU to sort by CPU Usage, either scroll to the bottom or click it twice). Actually, it'd probably also be helpful to just run EVE or Firefox and check the CPU each uses. If both use over 50% individually, then there's going to be some system lag when running them together. Try to close down any other CPU hogs (that aren't important, obviously) and see if that helps.
If you've already done all this, then sorry for being Captain Obvious ----

Does it happen on any particular site, or all of them? Have you tried disabling any plugins to firefox to see if it improves? |
