This is just some of my wishful thinking, to show clarity of vision in game design of EVE as a hardcore pvp game, and the balls to act on things I believe in.
I would make the following changes in 1 month: *) Blasters - increase damage modifier by 20%, reduce falloff by 20% *) Autocannons - increase tracking by 25% *) Artillery - increase damage modifier 25%, decrease rate of fire 20%
The idea is to emphasize differences between weapon types - and thus fighting styles. Blasters would be the ultimate gank but hard to get in perfect range/tracking. Autocannons would be best at versatile close range combat, offering better performance against smaller faster targets than blasters. Artys would get their alpha strike advantage back.
*) Falcons - reduce ECM strength bonus from 20% to 15% per level *) ECCM - increase sensor strength boost by 25% *) Signal Distortion Amplifier - add 15% ECM optimal range penalty *) Huginns & Rapiers - give special ability: 25% to web strength. (60% web becomes 75%) *) Nosferatu - redesign current energy transfer limitation to always work as intended until enemy has 30% cap left. Make sure the module description properly reflects that fact. *) Take "scripts" for sensor and tracking mods and remove the -100% penalty. These modules have already been nerfed 50%, no need for it. *) Vargur - add 1000 grid and 10 cpu *) Assault Frigates - give them 2nd bonus from t1 version of the frigate they are based on *) Black Ops - give each one 1000 more grid. Add special ability - no penalty to scan resolution from cloak. Look into amount of work involved with adding separate fuel bays, if not easy, add special bonus - 80% reduction in fuel use. *) Stealth Bombers - give them covert ops cloak *) Bombs - double base damage of all bombs *) Release faction variants for: ECCM modules, tracking disruptors, remote sensor damps, remote ECCM, remote sensor boosters, all shield extenders except Large, all armor plates except 1600mm. *) Faction ammo - increase LP cost 3x. *) MicroWarpDrives - make variations of capacitor bonus to be spread around -25% to -10%. Make speed bonus variations between 500% and 600% for meta 14. Make Gist line of MWDs focus on slightly better cap penalty while Core slightly better speed - 10% spread. *) Webs - switch stats of Shadow Serpentis Stasis Webifier with Domination web. *) Shaqil Speed Enhancer - restore to slot 7 *) Snake implant set - adjust low grade set to give 25% maximum, high grade to give 40% maximum *) Talisman implant sets - add special ability: removes any cap restrictions from Nosferatu fitted on ship. Ability gained only with full set, either low or high grade *) Halo implant set - add secondary bonus to % increase to scan resolution
*) Forum word filter - I would assign someone to look into word filter list with goal of reducing it at least 30%. It's getting to point of ridiculous with some of the stuff it cuts out.

I'd entertain an idea with CCP's art department about creating a cool looking wall poster with words "F#@$ The Carebears" for EVE Store (actual poster not word filtered). It should have some floating corpse and an exploding Raven somewhere on it |

- Nice list of things, shows that you have ideas. - Bad list as you only address issues not totality. - Worse list 'cause you address only part of the game, not all of it. - The absolute killer is; you're thinking like a player with no regards to time, effort and cost.
And maybe the worst of all:
- You fail to place it in the riht forum section. |

problem with the weapons at least is that CCP had to tone down the weapons has fights were to fast and quick , hence the HP buff ect and all that
im not to sure about some of you ideas... but then again in a forum troll and will do anything to get my minutery fix :) |

my thoughts on your changes -wheres the missile boost? -wheres the laser tracking nerf? -stealth bombers should have that covops cloak, bonus should also be added to stealth bomber that reduces the factor of target's speed 20% dmg increase for only 20% falloff for blasters is insane, youd have to do that AND nerf tracking
-the nos change is just idiotic, nos are fine -apparently someone hates falcons

i agree with these at least, but...

so you'd increase damage on a short range weapon that gives awsome damage at short range yet make falloff shorter? what would that be? 5k max range?
increase autocannon, artillery would make them the new OP weapons, screwing the other races , yet bringing the beams a bit more in balance.
i for one, am glad your not a game designer. though it is a decent try, eliminating individual descisions in favor of easymode and overpowered ships is not the way to go.

I am aware that my ideas address a specific part of the game - the part I am fully immersed in, the part on which I can speak with understanding and confidence. This isn't an exclusive list. It doesn't mean that all other game ideas related to other parts of the game would stop, there'd just be different people championing those issues.
And this is the right forum, as it is just wishful thinking. It's pointless to put it in "ideas" forum, as the idea of letting me take over CCP is pretty ridiculous and they aren't going to act upon everything else without me in charge.

I am keenly aware of the interplay of tank and gank in EVE PvP, from large to small scale battles. My gun changes aren't significant enough to make a serious dent in current status quo. They are just enough to give people an edge in pvp.

This wouldn't make the game anymore hardcore at all. Changes to make the game more hardcore would be like removing CONCORD from high sec and gate guns from low sec as well as letting -10 pirates go through high sec unmolested and nerfing corp hopping to run from wars.
+20% DPS to blasters is insanely unbalanced. People don't complain that blasters don't do enough damage, they complain that they can't wtfpwn any cruiser that gets within 15km of them anymore.
A lot of small changes here and some changes that don't make much sense (ugh @ cov ops cloaks on sbs and your nos change) To be honest, I'd rather play CCP's EVE than your version of EVE. |

That would mean a "designer position", not a lead designer. If you want to lead design, and even design, you have to have a bigger picture then a "self wish list".
Further more, it's not the right forum, it's ideas, it's wishes, aka, Features and Ideas.

I'm sorry, but no. This is why CCP isn't run by one dude calling all the shots. There are reasons WHY CCP doesn't follow your suggestions. You just basically nerfed the crap out of some ships while making a ton of other ships OP. Although some ideas may have merit, your not running the company. CCP is.
If your so damn interested in changing Eve Online, make your own version of the game.
tl;dr
Quit acting like your Ghandi/God. CCP makes changes at its own pace, not the pace of players.

Now I'm kind of curious. We all know that SiSi is the public test server, but what does CCP do there in-house testing on? Does each team have access to their own very limited EvE where everything including calls, databases and of course modals and other in game things? Is there one big CCP only server that is controlled by a few devs?
I guess what I'm getting at is how do you test things when you'd be constantly tweaking the very under lying fabric of the game? I'd imagine you'd be fine adjusting certain things on the fly in SiSi by simply having a timed bump for data in the database because the client side doesn't hold that information, but that can't be true all the time. Signatures are annoying...kinda like me. |

These two suggestions all by themselves go quite a ways towards undoing the nano nerf. You want to have your cake fast and eat it too. Not going to happen.
I have to agree with what has been said here: I'm glad you're not in a position of authority at CCP. For very one item on your list that has some merit towards necessity, there are two that serve only your personal interests. Most of them, however, have the dubious honour of being rollbacks of CCP changes over the recent years. Wouldn't it make sense to ask CCP why they made these changes in the first place? |

If I was top game designer at ccp
I would get one of the office walls sectioned off into 4 sections, it would be like a graph where impact scale on one axis and effort axis on the other.
Then Ill post multi color-coded postit notes each containing an idea. The different colors would pretain different aspects to eve like yellow for corps, red for pvp, green for industry, blue for informational, white for networking/coding.
Every idea would be paraphrased onto that postit and placed on the wall in its proper location, those who do the ground work can move it along the effort axis, CSM CCP and players can move the notes along the impact axis.
Those with high postive impact with little effort required (such as balacing) will be reviewed first commented on ect ect and goes though the process of an idea into context and into the review stage where it gets promoted or shot down. If its a iffy shot down its put back on the wall/board for future revisit should its need araise again.
Of course this doesnt mean the "high effort : high impact" "low effort : low impact" & "low impact : high effort" ideas never get consider, eventually the high positive impact and low effort ideas will be off the board, and well work on the high impact high efforts next then well have the stark realization this board may never get emptied.
Ideas go to review then gets approved into a project will have resouces allocated or voulenteered for it. Theyll execute, qa it, review it, and see if its proper for implimentation into the project.
Ideas would be harvested from many sources, fourms, other devs, fan fest feedback, csm ect ect. =============
