Hi,
my standing char was the only member for the last 9 days in my new possible POS holding corp, but i still get "Everybody is neutral or negative towards XY" listed in the corp standings pane?
I was under the impression that after 7 days it should change to the avg. of all members? So whats going on here?
To be more precisely i firmly created the corp with a other toon, but directly changed CEO to my standing character. Than after 24h my org. char was removed from the corp and my standing char was the only one in it for now 8 days?
Ideas, hints?
Thx Andy |

easiest fixes are: 1. run a storyline to kick the standings into working (might require a DT to reset) 2. clear your cache
or do both.
there are probably other things that I'm forgetting ATM... |

I did several cosmos missions with the standing char after joining the corps and becoming ceo. |

Try clearing your cache. That happened with me when I changed my main to the CEO of the corp, but he didn't have CEO abilities and the standings didn't apply. It was really weird. After a cache clear, standings instantly appeared more "correct" and I had all the things a CEO should have.
EDIT: Also petition it. F12 on your keyboard. May not be necessary after the cache clear, but could be useful. File under "stuck". |

Oki clearing the cache did the trick, now i see all standings correctly. No clue why i did not try this 2 days before, but thx anyway. |

It takes 1 server reset for the stands to take affect in regards to either the Corporation, or how the POS reads the standing data.
Whichever the case may be, after server reset the standings should carry over and function as expected. |

You would think this is the case, and you'd think it'd be server-side instead of client-side, but something gets junked in cache and breaks it all. Hence the clearing of cache fixed his problem. |

There was also a bug on the server side where daily standing calculations were not daily. But I think that got fixed a week or two ago.

I also find this kinda "amusing" since as a programmer myself, i really would like to see this cache system design, which seem to have no "strong" invalidation, hash or timing mechanism. Since obviously and empirically a bad/old local cache entry seems to prevent/confuse a server based refresh call. I would assume that either the cache needs to validate itself against the server data via data hash's or becomes invalid at some point. I mean a browser cache works similar and don't has those problems. |

oh, but it does. It's just that the browser cache is (usually) invalidated after a set amount of time, OR upon browser close (depending).
Few weeks ago when they changed the layout of the eve sites (to have the dropdown and stuff), it broke a lot of people's forums because the browsers "thought" they still had a valid CSS sheet cached ... |

Oh really? I always assumed that a browser cache at least compares the size of a data object against the server? So mainly updated objects where the old/new size is identically would be problematic. Is there a reason why the browser cant compare the "creation time/date" for a given data object? I guess it has to do with inter OS and file-system differences, problems. I mean the last cache system i wrote simply used the name, size, creation/modify date/time for the first test round and if possible, applicable a data hash/fingerprint of some form for the second round, but i'm no web programmer so what do i know :p |

It's always startling finding out what all gets 'cached' in-game.
Amazing we even figure out how to play. Seems like 60% of most game mechanics is workarounds anyway. There isn't anything left for you to do to Carebears. -áGo, kill them some more. They're like fungus or bacteria, they won't die and they won't stop. All you have to show for years of organized harassment campaigns against them is ... nothing. |

Update your skills in the corp window. This worked for me last time, about a month or so ago. I don't remember if I then logged or waited another 24hrs. |

because when you timestamp a cache and say it's valid for 24 hours (let's say), the browser (generally) won't look for a new version of the file (there are ways to tell the browser "hey, there's a new one, ignore the cache" serverside, but it's a pain to do for something that changes rarely). |

1. You have to wait seven (7) downtimes for the standings to change. This is by design. 2. You often have to do something like run a mission after #1 above to have the changes take effect. The clearing of cache hasn't always worked for me, but does sometimes. This is a bug, been here for years, CCP knows about it, and hasn't bothered to fix it. |

why are you even still responding? his problem was fixed and it had nothing to do with what you are suggesting. Read the damn other posts first. |
