yesterday I unfortunately was unable to catch a  thorax I was chasing in 0.3 sec system. When I looked at the can that he was mining, it was full of SCORDITE! I just done understand why people venture out to 0.3 to mine scord.   So I did him a favor and popped his can with 50k rock in it. First time I did it and did not notice that I get a sec hit for doing it. Wtf.

The point was not to show off my uber l33t skilzors in podding and killing. The point was to see how many other people have encountered those mining in low sec for some real basic ore.

Dont relocate to mine the lower end ores... mine in the same place... as the good stuff... u get the low end minerals.. and decent bounties as well..

Hello, I am the miner that MARKOL popped the can of.
Easy Target is correct, I am based next to the 0.3 in a 0.5 where my factory is. I build things. I mine in the 0.3 for a few reasons, I like the bounties I get, there is always plenty of ore around and last but not least any ore theives are not gonna bother in low sec.
Now, let me tell you what really happened that day.
I was mining away at Scordite getting the pyrite for my next project then MARKOL comes into the sys. because I am ultra-paranoid I check anyone that hangs about in the sys a bit and always have local open. So, MARKOL comes in and I check him, looks okay. Then a Mega comes to belt and I line up to warp just incase, but no the Mega leaves and stayed at quite a distance before it did.
So, now a little worried I keep a close eye out for him, then a few minutes later MARKOL comes back to my belt and I warp out. Then in local he asks 'Would you like to mine with me?' I respectfully decline, and warp back to the belt to check if he even has lasers on. Nope. Warp out. Then he goes on about the scor saying why don't I just mine in New Caldari or something like that and pops the can I leave a smiley in local and tell him I'll always have more time.
That was how it happened, apoligies as I have no logs as I disabled that.
Just to let you know MARKOL, I was happy to let this lie and not bother about it but your post spurred me into action.
Btw his name is MARKOL incase you didn't catch it.

I think you've just overplayed your hand. SO, apparantly, Markol, you don't have to hide behind your alt anymore, given that the miner in question was right.
Why does mining Scordite in 0.3 make him a carebear? It's not secure space? If I were to mine Veldspar in 0.0 space, would I be a carebear as well?

Alright,
I concede that I am a noob in the pirate world. I am a noob in all the game actualy. I have been playing since early Marh, which is definetly not as long as a lot of the people here.
I have never done manufacturing, so don't know a single thing about it. My few brief pirating escapades have ended. My corp and alliance got prety ****ed. So now I am back mining crock and killing NPC BS. Kind of boring by comparison, but for now I need to make some money.

I don't have a problem with ore thieves personally. What I have a problem with is not having a mechanism in place that allows me to blow them the fuk up.
It is one thing to have ore theft as a viable profession that you must safe guard against, and an entierly different one to allow them to do what they do with no risk.
Ore theft should only be safe against macro miners, and people too stupid to pay attention, or equip themselves with a way to defend their ore.
Anyone who wants to post now about secure cans, and how it's littering and you are just cleaning up, feel free to post now btw. No one believes that crap, not even you people, but I'm sure it will be amusing as always.
(Of course I don't generally mine in anything above .6, but thats a matter of logistics, not ethics.)

because the roids never get mined so they are huge and u dont need to keep switching between roids like u would in 1.0/0.9. Plus u have the chance of a few NPC's showing up or even the odd player rat. Keeps the tension up

because the roids never get mined so they are huge and u dont need to keep switching between roids like u would in 1.0/0.9. Plus u have the chance of a few NPC's showing up or even the odd player rat. Keeps the tension up

I've mined veld in 0.0. Mining low end ore is sometimes a neccessary evil.
But to call a guy a carebear that at least has the sack to hang in low sec space? Why cuz he wouldn't fight you with mining lasers equipped?
BTW: If you want to grief someone's ore can without the sec hit you have to xfer it into your own first.

I've mined veld in 0.0. Mining low end ore is sometimes a neccessary evil.
But to call a guy a carebear that at least has the sack to hang in low sec space? Why cuz he wouldn't fight you with mining lasers equipped?
BTW: If you want to grief someone's ore can without the sec hit you have to xfer it into your own first.

The worst carebear i have ever met is a player called countessa, he/she worked hard mining to get her bs..... fair enough alot of peeps do. But not he/she has it, it is never undocked! and i mean never! whats the point? why go ratting in a punisher when u have a shiny 8 month old bs docked in the station! please mail this player in game to sort his/her head out!

MASS is at war with Countessa's corp, so she flies around with dual mwd insta docks at all times now, as far as I know.
However, since she's at war with MASS, I would not call that her being a carebear. She just knows her corp cannot match us, and she does not want to lose her battleship. Maybe it's fear, but maybe discretion is the better part of valor. Were I her, I would sue for peace.
