Hey dudes.
So the other day I was thinking about a couple of the little details that occasionally bug the crap out of me in Eve, and I thought maybe it'd be fun and not at all a complete disaster to start a thread for only the smallest, most inconsequential nitpicks. Post here if you got 'em.
Keep in mind, I'm talking about little compulsive things here, not actual game changes. No nerf/boost nonsense, no changing ship attributes or fittings or CPU/grid or anything that requires balancing.
Basically, I'm talking about things that one guy in Reykjavik could fix on his lunch break, without having to balance it or double-check it or confirm it with anyone, no forum butthurt, just bang it out with one hand while chugging Brennivin with the other and get back to Ambulation or that new FPS or whatever else is cooking behind the scenes that I won't know about until CCP inevitably hires me due to the sheer unadulterated genius of this thread.
Right...?
Anyway, I'll kick this off by saying it'd be totally sweet if someone could tame those rogue polygons in the glass panel at the front of the Curse. That little reflection bug is provoking my compulsive nature and I figure it's only a matter of time before I snap and go on an OCD rampage through New Eden, following every Curse I see and hurling waves of armor rep drones at it while shouting "LET ME WASH YOUR F**KING WINDOWS" in local.

Trying to dock with the station only works 70% of the time. The other 30% of times the game just ignores the request and nothing happens. -

I imagine that would be a pretty serious bug if they still haven't fixed it.
Or, to be a complete tool about it: TOO IMPORTANT, UR DOIN IT WRONG.
But yeah, what is the deal with that anyway? Come to think of it, maybe it's just lag? ----- Anyone who makes a point of telling you they never beat around the bush is beating around the bush. |

Good call !
Dock command, ship warps, ship arrives at station, flip a coin, ship docks or approaches station ...
What about the display bug of depleted shields and cap at undock ? When they where before you docked but are in fact now recharged.

Yeah, I get that too. But I'd classify that as a core game bug. There's plenty of discussion about those in the Game Development forum.
I'm thinking more along the lines of "Dag-nabbit CCP, make the dang hardpoints on the Harbinger friggin' symmetrical, by gum!"
Also, the phrase "by gum" needs to be used more often purely for its hokey appeal. ----- Anyone who makes a point of telling you they never beat around the bush is beating around the bush. |

Hey Reg!
Yeah I noticed that weird effect on the Curse as well.
Nitpicks? Hmmmm...
Well, I would really like the option to fit like 4 turrets at once, like click a stack of weapons and fit it, shouldnt be that hard to do. :S Less time fitting, more time pew pew-ing.
Also, it would be REALLY good for example when you are repackaging stuff, and there is something damaged... It should ASK you if you want to repair it, and clicking "YES" would result in the items being repaired and then stacked. Because in 90% you do just that yourself.
Also something like afk notices... You type /afk and you could maybe add some simple parameters, and when some one addresses you in corp/alliance (your channel of choice really) its an automated message that maybe says. "Auto Message: I'm away, returing in 45m 23s." This would be done like "/afk 50m."
Highlight the skillgroup-bar that has a skill training in your charsheet, just to help you find it that little bit faster.
Make the guns on battleships proportionally bigger, at least artillery I can't make the turrets out from the rest of the scrapheap hull that are my minmatar BS's...
Those are a few...

when searching through contracts, the lists should actually categorise properly. for example, if i wanted to search by price across entire regions. it would actually start with lowest price in all eve and go to highest price. INSTEAD of categorising by page...which makes it a right slog to go thru entire contract market sometimes. how hard is it to categorise this properly? come ON>>>

I hereby submit the terrible trend that caldari engineers exhibit: randomly attaching engines wherever it's convienent. I mean, at least on the Kestral they all point the same way but why the HELL am I routing engine power in opposite directions on a Griffen or Kitsune? I'll bet THAT'S why Caldari ships are natively slow - all that advanced technology is being installed by engineers who couldn't even get past the "build a lego spaceship by following the instructions found in the kit" course in . . . wherever Caldari engineers go to learn how to make things.

When you DC on a gate and relog instantly, before the ship has warped off (weather you have done it intentionally or NOTTTT!) the ship will stay in place but you will NOT be able to jump out of harms way, tho you haven't jumped -> re approached you have to way sth like 30sec.
Has happened to me twice when multiple hostile ships entered through the gate I was on and the client crashed(thanx QR patch), and I've lost 2x ships waiting for the darn session to change (no-aggro, yet not jumping out and no "invulnerability")- no response to my petitions whatsoever. Aye, and i think theres some tinkering guy, Bertie, who is "special".
"Special" Bertie is sometimes allowed to play with the turret harpoint placement schematics so that he doesnt feel left out.
Unfortunately "Special" Bertie has a terrible mind for aesthetics and stuffed up many a turret layout design e.g. the Raven, eagle etc. Seriously all the guns sguished on each side of the eagle? Yuck.
I think "Special" Bertie needs to be supervised in his ventures, and learn more from the other decent designers like Darryl, who designed the rokh, ferox, vulture, cormarant and harpy turret layouts.

Its not a bug. Whats happening is that when you press dock and you warp to the station you stil have an active session change timer running. Someone in the alliance discovered it and noticed that her warp from X gate to X station was faster than the session change timer. this effect rears its ugly head alot but you see it in different guises.
i would guess that having more than 1 session change timmer active at a time would have drastic consequences.

Exactly! The case is the same with pretty much all the Kalaakiota vessels. And while the Paladin's design is superb, I feel that the Pilgrim's outer coloring shouldn't be a dark gold, but rather a brownish bronze approaching on black, because of its stealth apparel. :O I was seeking this thread just for this very same thought.
What it is is the right rear engine stream is set inwards too much compared to the left... I love the prowler and losing the spinny things while in premium was sad enough, now I gotta stare at a lopsided engine that literally ****es me off to fly ): Least it can cloak now and that sort of helps... but deep down I just know...

I hate to break it to you, but even if the mechanic is working as intended (i.e. a single session change timer) produces unexpected results (apparently ignoring player requests and the like) you have a bug. It might be that the core issue is so deeply ingrained in the way the game functions that it's nearly impossible to change, but it's still a bug nevertheless.
Predictable failure of a game mechanic to produce expected results may indeed be a cardinal sin of QA, but at least I've never been personally killed by this sort of thing.

Here are a few suggestions I have for the game.
-Cooler Domi Texture
-Less blinky lights in general (hint hint crow hint) One would *assume* that it wouldn't be a tactical advantage to stick airplane lights on combat craft.
-I have 13 out of 14 social skills. Arrrgh! Please for the love of the spaghetti monster finally remove the blasted skill "DED Connections" No one has it and if they did it would really mess the isk up and stuff. Or... put it in the game just to be contrary, i don't care. I just hate having skills listed that aren't in game. You could always just give *me* the skill ccp... that would make me happy.
-I also think you should be able to right-click "set destination" for your agents in standings. |

Thres also an issue with captial blaster graphics.
IE look at a moros from the front with capital blasters. Now look at the barrel, you can see empty space behind the barrel instead of the back of the ball-like turret.
Its a shame, as the cap. blasters are kinda useless already, but to spoil the awesome starwars "Fire the ion cannon" feel with this glitch is a tad uncool.
While Im at it... Where the hell is the caldari rail dread? Being the railgun specialists youd think theyd have one. EVE history

the navy apoc's color scheme isn't the absolutely badass white/blue color scheme that other amarr navy ships have.
Navy Omens and those sweet looking Navy arbitrators that guard highsec gates make me want ALL amarr navy ships to have that livery.
making a gold ship "supergold" is pretty pointless tbh.

My two nitpicks atm are just for the Gallente BS, Domi texture in premy needs a rework (something similar to the Vexor imo w/ some Gold :D), the gun layout for the hyperion needs to be scrapped... wtf guns on the nose and arse? On the sides/top/bottom plx, and lastly the gun layout for the Mega. If you put 7 guns on it, the 7th is in the front side, where it appears to be designed for 3 guns, take the 2 off of the little winglets in the back and put them up front! >_>
Thats it... /rant off
(Of course... if you want to make the hyperion darker too... thats cool, I want a Black Hyperion (Navy Hyperion with 15% tank bonus plox?)) ___ I cannot be held responsible for the above post, because apparently,my cat has learned to type. :3 |

The lateral fins on the Amarr Interceptors jut out at slightly different angles from the hull.
Engine flares on the Claw are of uneven length. Same with the engine flares of the Amarr assault ships.
Missing texture under the two pieces of bow armor on the Omen.
Pistons (?) that stick out the back of the Amarr shuttle have a component that slowly moves from the ship out towards the end of the piston slowly, but then snaps back immediately into the ship once it reaches the end. It should have at least some type of animation that moves the moving component back into the ship.
The fluttering radiators on the bridge of the Huginn drive me nuts.
Missing textures on the Typhoon in Classic. Small white boxes appear instead. Typhoon also has an inexplicable flat orange texture in that one thing. If you fly it you know what I'm talking about.
Missing textures on the Firetail police vessels in Classic. Small pinkish or white boxes appear instead. This problem does not appear on player-owned Firetails, which use a slightly different set of textures.
Missile explosion animations don't appear if you fire the missile at the enemy from less than like 1.5 km distance.
Missiles still appearing from the center of the ship. If turret effects can originate from specific points, why not missiles? Pretty much every ship that has missile capability has at least one area of the hull texture that looks like a missile launching port, so just have them fire from there.
Caldari-hulled pirate vessels still have the Caldari insignia on them.
Turrets on the Keres are uneven and originate inside the ship hull.
Some silly programming blunder resulted in the Helios and Cheetah looking more like the Imicus and Probe instead of their correct hulls. I'm sure this will be fixed in a future patch though so I'm not too worried about it.
Helios lacks the glowing spiky bits found on other Creodron vessels including the old Helios model.
The tiny sliver of open space between the left and right sections of the Atron and associated hulls drives me so batty that I just can't bring myself to use these ships. Is there a gap between the bridge and engine section? Is there a point where they connect prior to where they obviously meld together at the back of the ship? Who friggin knows?! The right-click rotate camera zoom feature doesn't help. This is why I can't enjoy the elevated DPS of the Taranis, CCP.
Small sliver of open space between the top and bottom sections of the Scorpion and associated hulls. Same issue as above.
T2 blasters don't glow enough in their blue parts.
Hurricane mounts three sets of turrets on what would be the least structurally sound areas of the whole hull.
That thin beam running beneath the larger upper segment at the rear of where the Catalyst and associated hulls separate into two parts bugs me hard.
Salvagers need an animation. Personally I want something that resembles the tractor beam animation but not as intense. Also it should be purple because there aren't enough purple things in this game. I confess I once started a thread about this.
What's with the lack of faction Brutix hulls? Serpentis Brutix looks the same as the Gallente and Serpentis Brutix hulls.
The entire Nemesis hull just irks me. Strangely the Tristan hull does not.
Geddon needs more engine ports. Apoc needs more engine ports. Vengeance needs fewer.
Too many Megathron hulls.
NPC Megathron hulls mount nine sets of guns.
Torpedo shockwaves are two- and not three-dimensional as they should be. They're also a little too big for my taste.
Eris still off-center on screen. CCP did say they are working on this though.

Don't touch my flaps. If they bother you use Premium graphics... they don't move anymore on premium
I actually just finished downloading the Premium client
I'm waiting on confirmation in the thread at the issues/workaround forum over whether I can install the whole thing (the 1 gig download not the 600mb conversion) into a separate folder and then choose to either log in to Premium or Classic. Not really sure how well Premium is going to run and I don't want to have to install the whole Classic client over from scratch if Premium sucks on this machine.

Much as I hate super-pyramid quotes with this sort of thread it's a necessary evil. Having absolved my conscience of that...
I've noticed that this "bug" often happens, for me at least, when I'm still in warp while the client or the server tries to initiate the docking process.
I don't know if it's a bug or a network issue or what but it just seems that at times the client sends its one and only docking request while you're still, barely, in warp and that causes it to fail and because it only sends a single docking request you're left to run into the station and keep bumping it like ""Special" Bertie" dry-humping the soda machine.
If it's a network issue then the only real way I can think of to fix it is to have a 1-3 second delay after the initial post-warp dock command to see if it was actually processed correctly but that'll add an extra command per player per docking attempt for the nodes to process. Would it be worth the cost in terms of potential lag? In low/no-sec sure, but in high-sec? In Jita/Dodixie/Amarr/Rens?
Now, if you want a really annoying bug they should fix, let's get the message board bug fixed. I still keep having to log in once or twice in the span of 3-4 minutes to write posts, but thankfully it's way down from my all-time record of having had to log in 13 times and make 25 attempts to post one single message. ____________________

Edited by: MercenaryMuffin on 16/12/2008 11:13:24 Oh, the list is many...
Bring back blue lasers for the ice harvesters! Orange lasers are LAME.
In fact, change the strip miner/mining laser colors to match the type of crystal loaded into them. At least it would make mining a little more interesting to look at.
I HATE the flames that come out of the side of the Hulk. They look so weird and out of place. They come out slow regardless of whether you're staying still, or warping at 3.0 AU! Get rid of them or make them shoot out faster!
What the frak is up with the headlights on the mining barges and exhumers? They don't even look good, they're just...there.
Why is the Coercer's ****pit sticking out from one side of the ship? Seriously, that's the most vulnerable place you could possibly put it. It just looks dumb.
Bring back drone trails!
For the love of the gods, change the Domi! I love to use it because it's strong as hell, but I can't stand how it looks. It's so damn ugly!
Planets rotate too fast, and they're all the Star Wars type of planet: A single kind of environment. A planet of ice, a planet of water ,a planet covered in clouds, etc. What, are there no multi-environment planets in the Eve galaxy? Seeing some Earth-like planets, with plants and water, and ice-capped poles, would be nice.
Why are there so many broken "Enjoy" signs everywhere? Doesn't anyone ever bother to pick them up? I never see any intact, either.
If I can't buy a can of Quafe from a vending machine once Ambulation is introduced, I will kill someone.
For the love of all things decent, change the UI. Eve is a beautiful game...only I can NEVER SEE IT, because 3/4ths of my screen is taken up by freakin' menus. Ugh.
I 2nd the idea that we kill off Scotty. We get it, it's a reference to Star Trek. Let it die. If you insist on keeping Scotty, at least make the message grammatically correct. It should read "Scotty, the docking manager, estimates X seconds". It's currently missing the 2nd comma.
I have DNA from criminals, but I can't do anything with it.
Caldari jump gates are still ugly.
Stop making Eva introduce me to a menu option every time a new expansion is released. It's annoying.
Why do missiles still appear from the middle of the ship? Can't we have missile turret hardpoints?
Why are there so many "weapon on a stick" turrets? They look terrible.
Why do we still have so many ABSOLUTELY USELESS mission items? Caviar, water bottles, livestock, polymers, militants, etc. I either can't sell them at all, or I get like 10 isk for a hundred of them. What's the point?
Also, I keep getting drugs from a lot of the missions, but I can't do anything with them. They just sit there, and I can't undock with them. I'd love some kind of black market system, but that's way beyond a nitpick.

- The Mammoth's hull is warped. If you look at it you can use its bridge and the tower on its bow like a guns ironsights. If you do, you'll notice that it's warped
- Weapon's animations used to impact "randomly" on the shot at ship. Now all turrets hit the same point over and over again.
- Many ships and NPCs are missing animations. the drone domi is about the only ship that retained its animations from the classic client. This might be that the graphic expansion was incomplete, as stated by CCP. Real men do it the hard way: fly Minmatar! |

More customization of all the on-screen stuff that isn't space and ships. There was an extremely small step taken in QR but not nearly enough. I like to customize stuff and make **** suit me better. Like having the option to have all chats in a separate window, is that a hard thing to program?
