Also, it would be really handy if we could eventually use fleet broadcasts to let other members know of our status effects. Something like:
Ampoliros (dramiel) is scrambled by OMGWTF (rifter) and 2 others
Go from there to add lock target functionalty to the broadcasts and so on as well. :) |

Doesn't this really nerf the Ewar ships? I mean all the info was previously there with the overview.. You just had to scroll down and pay attention to it to figure out who was doing what. Now it's really easy to target the person back. At the same time, there is NO indication other then the red box and the damage notifications that you're being hit by a specific person. Sure in a small fight that might not matter much, but in a big fight, the damage notifications are going by so quick, that you have no way to actually read it. So technically you're forced to constantly scroll your overview. I just think this makes it way too easy to take down the ewar ships which usually have crap for survivability anyways, and it was suprise that was their big advantage. Now, you've taken that advantage away.

But - as some have mentioned - it impacts E-WAR balance. What comes to my mind:
-"softer" E-War effects like Target Painting and Tracking Disruption will less likely go unnoticed -feints where e.g. a hero-tanked Falcon without ECM is used maybe in conjunction with ECM on other ships won't work anymore -E-War ships will draw much more attention and aggression
In short: those effects will be countered easier. => E-War nerf.
What about the other end? Imagine there are like 10 Scramblers/Disruptors, 5 Neuters, 4 Tracking Disruptors, 3 Remote Sensor Dampeners in your gang - how can you ever hope to EFFECTIVELY use them on any enemy? It is easy to announce focus fire (though many fleets even don't get this done), but the coordination of different E-War types is way more difficult. Putting a 4th Tracking Disruption effect on a ship does nothing!
What would be nice is some information about the targets as well. Like mini status bars for locked targets. Or at least an information which of my gang mates is scrambling which enemy ship!
This "nerfs" e-war in no way since all of this information is already available in the Overview and will remain available via the Overview. No new information is being provided, only a nicer (for most) interface to consolidate the information. None of your above points are valid, did you even read the Dev Blog? For your last paragraph, the information this bar adds is information your client already receives (a la for the Overview), but for information on how many people are locking the target and what effects they are applying do not, AFAIK, get sent to every client, so this would increase server/network load. It would be nice to see what effects (other than attacking as you can see damage being applied to your target anyways) are applied to your target (such as your, and others', point request for spreading points/scrams).
au contraire.. it makes it MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to target back said ewar pilot.. Which was really the big and really ONLY advantage of the ewar ships.. being able to get lost in the shuffle that is the overview. |

That's a great changes. Can we also have projected positive effects listed in similar manner? Remote reps, shield transfers, sensor linking, fleet/squad bonuses etc. |

I have been hearing rumors and also I think I heard it somewhere on the fan fest vids that Tracking disputer's might be getting changed to effect missiles as well. I know it might not necessarily be happening in escalation or inferno.
But is it a plan for the future or is it just conjecture. I also understand that it might not happen at all if its just a spit ball but is it being discussed as a feature that might be implemented sooner or later in any seriousness.
I already posted this somewhere else but I think this is a more appropriate place, I'll go back and delete my other post. |

Positive and negative feedback on this one, was asked to post this here and I love the UI folks so I couldn't say no GÖÑ
Quickly to get the negative out of the way, there's a new text display for Shield/Armour/Structure that comes with a set of lines that point towards the specific bar.
http://i.imgur.com/gSkWB.jpg
As highlighted in the circle, these lines once they reach the hud are very difficult to make out, it's easier to figure out when you already know where they're going, but I still find myself squinting to see them regardless.
Instead of lines pointing to the bars, is it possible to just have abbreviations of Shield/Armour/Structure (SH/AR/ST) next to each one, possibly with the popup you get when you hover over each different "health" bar also popping up over their respective % text if further clarificaiton is needed?
Also a little niggle (and I mean really little but I might as well mention it while I'm here) but the Structure value is a tad too close to the Cargo icon, would be nice to see a slight spacing gap there if possible.
Anyway, the positive:
I frigging love the new E-War HUD, it's brilliant and far more obvious than ye olde tiny icons on the overview. Running a mission earlier and spotting the neut icon and thinking "wait this mission has neut ships?" I'd never noticed with the old setup before, so instant notice.
One suggestion I'd like to make, there's a keybind for toggle left click target. Is it possible add a function where if target-toggle keybind is pressed down and a specific e-war icon is clicked, all ships doing that e-war are all locked simultaneously (assuming one has enough target capacity to do so) as opposed to manually picking each one out of the drop down menu?
Anyway, that's it from me, thanks for this new feature. Anything that adds information in a clear and visible way and interaction options in flight for me are big +'s. Enjoy your gaming.

The implementation is perfect and will help me die much more aware of my fate in the future. All modules "miss" like turrets instead of deactivating when out of range. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=98914 |

CCP karkur wrote:CCP karkur wrote:And good point about making it look more "dangerous" rather than like some extra modules you sudddenly have :P I just checked in a change that makes the icon background slightly red, indicating that they are not new magic modules.
Very good indeed. Now how about killing two birds with one stone and making those icons appear with a slightly green (or blue, or whatever) background when it's an actual buff and not a debuff? It would become an all-in-one "status bar" and you wouldn't need to eat anymore screen space. Someone mentioned it earlier but you could also make the player much more aware of how deep he/she is in by simply displaying the percentage of the debuff/buff. Let's say some people are jamming my tracking speed with several modules, and it would display a nasty red "85%" in the center of the corresponding ewar icon, then i would understand right away it no use trying to hit the frigates around me anylonger. In the same way, a green value would appear if a squadmate is buffing me. Of course, the displayed value would be expected to be the effective one, once debuffs and buffs are both applied, since the goal would be to have everything in that single bar. If that percentage displaying is considered too invasive i guess it could just appear when mouse hovering the icon, but it's defeating a bit the purpose of immediate ewar awareness then isn't it? might as well not bother with it all to begin with in that case.
I also strongly second the concept of circling timers just like for ship modules, like a lot of other players it seems. Because when it comes to immediate understanding of complex situations, those flying text bars (get rid of them!) are the complete anti-thesis of the magnificient UI improvements you're doing right now.
And that's a good enough outro line : you're doing magnificient UI improvements. |

I like it, but just a little feedback: implementing it the way it is shown in the video will lead to a serious annoyance. Whenever a new situational awareness icon appears, the icons that are already present shift to the left by half an icon. This can be really annoying if you need to click the icon to get at functionality, because the shifting is likely to cause miss-clicking.

CCP karkur wrote:Bloodpetal wrote:Madame Karkur, Instead of the horizontal count down bars that count down, can we get circular count down timers the same as on the module bar to show how long the effect will last? Thanks! That's actually like that in the original design, but we did not have enough time to implement that right now.
I was going to make a F&I thread about exactly this but then I saw this so I'll just say here that I hope you find the time to implement it; right now it just looks silly. |
