121. Will Eve be officially SLI supported when Vista arrives? - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
If you're talking about the Vista-only version of Eve, the one that needs a DX10 graphics card, then SLI isn't going to be a problem because nobody is going to able to run a pair of DX10 graphics cards . Not without their own personal nuclear pow...

122. Installing a new Gfx card - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
I don't know what the instructions are on about. The 7600GT is small and easily fitted. Plug it into the PCIe 16x slot, tighten the screw to hold it in place, switch the computer on. Dead easy.

If you have an Nvidia card open the NV control panel and select the 'Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates' panel. The custom res button is in there.

125. Processor, RAM, CPU? - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
Originally by: Andrue Initially the two machines played Eve pretty much at the same FPS. Then the RAM on the new machine (PC3200) died and I replaced it with some old PC2700 RAM. The result was an unplayable game. FPS dropped from the high...

126. Processor, RAM, CPU? - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
Originally by: Elgar Lightfoot When choosing a Processor ALWAYS go for the one with the largest cache. A 2.5 mb with 512 cache will out perform a 3.0 with 256 cache. That's very dependant on what type of processor you're talking about....

127. Processor, RAM, CPU? - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
If you intend to use the built-in graphics of that motherboard then your FPS will be terrible. Intel's on-board graphics are so bad any sane person would rip the motherboard out and feed it to a log shredder. Or at least quickly buy a real graphic...

128. Processor, RAM, CPU? - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
Originally by: Ra'qel Ilqtro Sorry, I wasn't aware that EVE is so different from other games in this respect. How come though, that EVE needs so much more processor power than most other games? It's because Eve's graphics engine was des...

129. Processor, RAM, CPU? - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
Eve is massively processor dependant. A slow gfx card or lack of memory can slow it down, but the processor is the really critical component. You don't need a spectacularly fast graphics card. A cheap GeForce 6600 or 7300GS will do fine unless ...

135. Words messed....game right - in Issues, Workarounds & Localization [original thread]
Corrupted text is usually down to either old drivers or a graphics chip that's not powerful enough to run Eve. If it's an NVidia or ATI chip, get the latest drivers. If it's Intel, SiS or VIA, buy a real graphics card.

The people who say the Celeron is rubbish are right, and the 2.4GHz version is one of the worst of the lot. For running a CPU-intensive game like Eve a Northwood-based Celeron is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Take a look at the gaming be...
