Is there not an option to turn on these training missions when pressing ESC, mind you, I never run them. You do not need to run them really either. Look for one of the Navy corps in your area and in the corps info under agents, they will list all...

If you focus on stuff like stealth bombers, using torp launchers, these can solo lone battleships quite easy... Scramble him silly, watch for reinforcements and/or drones... Seen many a BS die ratting in low sec and 0.0 systems.. Only downside is...
