I had this proplem when the client had to render images. What worked for me was to use the old resfaces.stuff file. If you have an intel or ati graphics chipsset then this could be your promblem.. here is the old thread

you can get much more money doing security missions in empire rather then hunting the belts for npc¦s . If you ever venture out into 0.0 space then a great deal of money can be made by farming the belts.
