The patch and new game version haven't been deployed yet so not sure what you're talking about but no, the game will just download the patch when it's back online and if all goes well, you'll be up to the latest rev in no time.

Even when sold through the forums, the item was usually escrowed to the buyer for agreed amount so you'd still be paying the same taxes. Only way around is for a direct trade which could be inconvenient.
