it doe sent need to be long to be a good idea. think about it: a pilot wouldn't willingly tune into a "local" channel unless they wanted to give away their presence

idk, using billboards might be impracticle. i dont know many people who would look at billboards every time they went by a gate. maybe if you was adds while you were jumping, or when undocking from a station.
