Another solution is to fit a webber or two. Webbers can slow frigates down enough to enable medium turrets to track them well enough to hit. With decent skills and equipment, I can hit orbiting frigates with medium hybrid turrets at close range....

Personally, I much preferred an Osprey to a Coromant. Just nice to have a much larger shield/armor/ect. If you are a new player, I would go with the Osprey. Destroyers in general take some skill to use and are not as flexible as even the crappie...
