Every time you update the launcher, millions of eve users universe-wide have to add an exception to their Firewalls. This could easily circumvented by not putting the version string in the file/folder name of the launcher.

That's because CCP is not able to build an Updater who is working. Search the Forums for the actual Update torrent and download it via bittorrent protocol.
