Originally by: Cheekything Well that and We only have 2 days till march then 2 weeks from then till the deployment so to iron out any serious bugs I'd like to have 2 weeks of testing on my mac :P
if you want 2 weeks of testing you need to go back in time, even if the beta would be released today it's just 11 days left.
or the scenario that on release day the mac client won't be ready for release day.
the time left now will never be enough to fix the bugs the players would find within the first 24 hours.
my subscription is set for 12th to rebill for 3 months. i'm trying to suspend it, but ccp did a great job hiding that option.
but they won't get any money from my card anymore anyway. i have new credit card and the old is cancelled.
when they get it done on time i'll happily prolong the sub. if not i'm taking a break until it's ready.

yep found it, 2 accounts cancelled.
seriously, WTF?!? announcing a download for a beta that obviously noone at ccp dared to at least open the disk image? yet install / start and try for a minute?
that qualifies as EPIC FAIL. shame on you.
"hope for the best, expect the worst"...
so i'm going to organize the evacuation of my assets to high-sec. i really can't believe the running gag "tomorrow" anymore.
i can imagine the stress level of the fellow devs at ccp these days. i smell 7day weeks and 14+ daily workhours. you have my sympathies.

thanks Casqade, much better :)
but too bad someone pushed the emergency bandwidth throttle button ;)
at first it looked very impressive: HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 2,334,083,313 (2.2G) [text/plain] 0% [] 13,999,336 4.95M/s 16:18:16 (4.94 MB/s) - Connection closed at byte 13999336. Retrying.
but as long as it works i'm happy with the ~620KB/s i have now.
let's wait and see...

ack. i was positively surprised about the first apocrypha version. but the fact that we barely had the chance to test it is so sad.
first the market didn't work so you couldn't get hold of a t3 ship. then market worked but the db was rolled back so no t3 skills anymore.
there obviously is quite a bunch of enthusiastic mac users waiting impatiently for the chance to test and giving ccp invaluable feedback in the process. and i'm sure ccp sees the value in that.
but despite all that they managed to give us a feeling of "we don't really need their input, the windows beta tests are enough" over the past 2 weeks.

btw. i tried to patch yesterdays "broken" version to the current version. the patch file was 240 MB. patching went smoothly but i was greeted that 2 extra files have been detected...
There are extra files in your EVE client installation. If you've recently applied a patch you may need to restart your computer.
Unknown files found: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX\ C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\Microsoft.VC80.CRT\
i removed those and the client started. sadly it was till pointing to TQ. so i tried the howto and added the key/string combo from the wiki to force it to Sisi. but didn't work.
but despite the fact i cannot login i noticed that the sound and music was crisp and clean so they seem to have fixed the most prominent issue.
now waiting for the download to complete, prolly taking an hour from now (~2gig patch).

No success :(
The TQ->Sisi patch 83982 (2.18GB) was in fact a patch to 83913. I applied the patch for that and... ofc same result as with yesterdays version i had patched earlier :(
Still hardwired to TQ with clean sound.
So again no working client available unless someone figures out how to rewire to Sisi.

yay got it working :)
you have to right click "Eve Online.app" in Finder (Show Package Contents" then navigate thorugh the program_files structure and delete the 2 dirs.
after you've done that the client should start up and point to TQ. to get this fixed:

Originally by: Rakshasa Taisab I've tried several variations, yet none of them allows me to change the target server to SiSi on the mac client.
Mac: 1. Follow these steps first: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=714213 2. Open your/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Eve Online/Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/ 3. Edit the PREFS.INI file. 4. Add the this line:
Quote:server=87.237.38.50
4. Save it 5. Profit - you will now be able to log into the test server!

actually ignore that step number 1. just dive into your preferences and add that server= line. that did it for me. since i added that line i was able to connect to sisi.

even after i read that new dev blog, i've searched and searched. couldn't find any wormhole.
even my probes are on strike now. they are just endlessly warping, not accepting controls, not even destroy works. so i'm calling it a day.
