The current effects on SISI are just animated textures put on lowpoly models, which is horribly apparent because you can clearly see the edges. And not just that, but I see alot of the effects look the same but with different colors, the "electricity-like" pattern is being used everywhere and for everything..
But the worst part is that these effects doesn't seem to scale at all.. When flying a frigate you're being overwhelmed with impact effects, nos effects that are 2-5 times bigger than the ship itself.. And now that we have effects for basically everything, it just turns into a really big mess..

These are tweaks that the devs can actually effect in time for the release. The feedback thread is stickied. I recommend you post there.

Clearly there are problems with the patch. Hard to judge anything at the moment. I'm sure they will sort it soon.

dunno every patch they put out so far they changed them up again and again.

The effects are awesome compared to the ones we didnt even have to begin with,they still need to be tuned,but that is what TEST SERVER is for.
I agree there are afew effects that still need work,but for exemple AC effect is just insanely good.

I know it's the test server.. But I'm disappointed in CCP that they decided to use the same old technology for the effects.. and that they're so horrible at doing it..
But ofc I should wait until everything is final before complaining, but where's the fun in that?

The new jump effect uses a pretty cool shader, and I'm sure some of the others will be improved before Apocrypha hits TQ. Seems to me they want to keep the graphics requirements as low as possible so they don't leave out the people with less powerful rigs. It's easy to suggest splitting the graphics up into different qualities, but it's also a lot more work having to create and test 2 or 3 different versions for every effect.

puh, i was pretty happy when i saw this thread ... was worried that i was the only one thinking that the new effects are just as outdated and non trinity compatible as the old one.

They are looking great on the smaller ships but they are not right on the bigger ships.
The reason is that there is a constanst distance from shields to ship hull. So on small ships it really looks like shields, but on large ships you do not see this distance and it looks like the shield are glued right onto the hull.
Fix should be easy, give the shields a variable distance from the ship. For example set the distance as 1/10 of ship length or whatever.
Might be even cool to change the distance over time to have some sort of pulsating shield effect.
Edit: Also they are to 'sharp' and should be a bit more fuzzy. And for the moment they are a little bit to bright. But when these minor things are fixed it will look really great and awesome!

I have to agree, i really dislike the new shield effects. But for the most part, the other effects look cool.

With nowdays Tech it should be posible, i mean they could use CUDA or some thing simmilair to calculate the shield hitting thing. i'm suprised they haven't done it tbh. Why can't they use that Awesome particle effect for not they had at Fanfest that time? that was really nice.

Because that effect was prerendered and couldn't be done live without a huge performance loss. It's probably possible in the future, but as of yet, they can't do it on any large scale. ----- Why doesn't anyone ever read the forums before posting?

Well this thread was mostly to vent some anger at CCP, because this whole mess just feels like a rushjob, maybe I fail to see the potential these new effects have, and that they'll look great once the bugs and issues are sorted.. Maybe..
But I have to say it bothered me with everyone being so amazed by the new stuff just because it's new.. And frankly I was expecting alot more from CCP..

Change your grahics settings to low/ medium- click apply. Then change them back to high. Its that simple. It worked for me and now all the graphics and textures are beautiful. I am very impressed. Even the T3 ships are rendered very well for me.
I love the new laser graphic and the new mining graphic, they are great. Yes there are a lot of bugs still, but they will fix them. Give them time. In the mean time, try the fix and enjoy the upgraded graphics

Thank God I'm not alone! Jump, warp, and cloak effects are all hideously cartoony in my opinion. The warp effect makes it feel as if my ship is barely crawling along, and the cloak effect looks as if it should draw MORE hostile intention instead of less. I played Guild Wars before EVE, and found the understated effects of EVE very refreshing. These new effects are on par with those of GW in terms of pointless flashiness.
