Its nearly July, many people send to ccp logs, reports, reported each issue, battles on server in FW systems are happening on daily bases so where is the problem? We want answers.

An experimental fix for the lag experienced by some Factional Warfare pilots has been released. This is not the final fix, only an effort to root out the underlying issue. Because this scenario is virtually impossible to reproduce on our test servers we’re asking for your help. The change to the EVE code is not active by default. To activate the new code you’ll need to add a line to one of the EVE settings files called prefs.ini. To do that you can…
- Use Windows Explorer to search for the file “prefs.ini”. Make sure to enable searching in system folders and hidden folders. Once found open the file and add the line “ksequencer=1” to the end. Save and close the file. EVE will now use the updated code when it is next run. If you’re using a Mac then use the Finder to search for this file.
- Or you could use Windows Explorer to navigate to ..\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings in Windows Vista, ..\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings in Windows XP (Might be slightly different depending on your installation). You will need to have show hidden files and folders turned on to be able to do this. In that directory edit the prefs.ini file as in option A.
Once that line is added to the file you will be running on the new experimental code. Without that EVE Factional Warfare should be the same as always. Of course, if you experience problems you can simply remove that line and go back to normal. Either way, please provide feedback on your experiences with Factional Warfare lag in this thread after applying the experimental fix. If all goes well we should be able to develop, test and deploy a final fix very shortly. We’re eager to hear from you and to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

This experimental fix was suggest to us by CCP last night when a large Eve University + friends fleet took down a low sec POS. With over 200 pilots on grid a lot of our own pilots experienced a lot of lag.
The pilots who tried out this fix all recorded a significant reduction in lag and the amount of desyncs (no desyncs after this fix).

Before the tinfoil hat brigade chimes in: This fix was not suggested to any one corp. Rather, I jumped onto the local channel and invited interested parties to participate in the experiment.
This problem has been extremely difficult to track down under controlled circumstances (such as on Sisi) and this is the reason we undertook such drastic measures to test this 'bandaid' in the wild. Keep in mind that this is an experimental feature and will at best mitigate some of the problems with extreme lag and rubberbanding in empire space engagements.
We hope this helps but we will continue to work on this problem. We would appreciate getting reports on how this 'intermediate fix' works.

Wishful thinking imo.
I have been running my usual dualbox. One character in a guardian, the other one in guardian of the same fitting, same skills.
So i happen to have a direct comparison. On client ran with the fix, one without. The only thing that was different was the overview (completey borked on the one with ksequencer=1) and module activation. I tried it during the heavy lag and compared activation delays. My findings were that the client with the "fix" had much worse activation delays. Sometimes three times worse than my main. ----------------------------------------------

Applied the fix, just been in the Taff POS seige, local was 470+ and the lag was horriffic. I had 4 logouts, at the end when i tried to leave i could not due to the fact that the game thought i was in one place, but i was in another.

Im an FC in FW. I took a 50 man fleet to an engament facing a 38 man fleet. I had the fix incorperated as did some of my fleet. 90% of the fleet instantly lagged causing 38 losses icluding my self. Ironicly the other side did not suffer lag and lost only 4.
CCP is it not true that the answer lies in the type of servers you run in FW? They are not battle servers like the ones used for 0.0. this is getting very expensive for us players and when we petition (which i told all my fleet to do) we get told "sorry we can not see a problem with the servers at the time reported so no refund". you know the issue is there and I accept that you are doing your best to repair it, but please pay the people back that lose their ships in the mean time, instead of ignoring us.

I didn't really have issues before with lag, but I stay zoomed way out and I know to warp out and back when it starts to get bad. I shouldn't have to warp out to fix this, though.
I have experienced crashes when warping to acceleration gates on plexes, though...

If I Recall Correctly, invites we given to any CCP Dev to join FW fleets time and time again. We even arranged a battle between the Gallente and Caldari thinking a Dev might turn up, as promised, and take a look at what was happening. Im sure 100's of logs were sent to you guys as you asked yet the problems are still here as they were from last November with the Quantum Rise expansion. Low sec battles before that expansion had ZERO desync problems and only minor lag, since then its just pointless trying to fight in any fleets over 15/20 ships.
You want to hear from more of us? We've been shouting about this problem from the top of every station for the last 8 months, ideas on what we think is happening and suggestions on how we think it could be solved or atleast made playable have been pointed out on many threads.
I think it's come to a point where people are better off trying to get blood from a stone. ---------------------------

I was involved in a large POS fight between Minmatar and Amarr in Taff.
While at the POS I had desynch so bad that I could not target the other ships let alone fire. I closed the client and relogged to try to clear it.
When I logged back in I was directed to warp to a station for more fighting. Again I was desynched. I have a screen shot of when my ship turned into a pod at 20:13 yet the insurance evemail and kill log both show the ship died at 20:09. There is a four minute desynch.
I have all effects off. I have sound off. I have graphics set to a minimum. I tried the prefs.ini fix posted in the forums and it made no difference. I had the fix in the file at the POS but had removed it before the station fight. Both fights had the same result.
Faction Warfare is unplayable. I've dumped over 700mil in isk into trying and I'm done. This is ridiculous.

Nope, it's not true. They are the same servers, reinforced and managed in the exact same way as the "battle servers" of 0.0, by the exact same Ops guys. Although we don't call them "Battle Servers" we just call them servers, because they're all the same these days.

An update for the fine pilots of Factional Warfare.
Thanks to your efforts and feedback the experimental fix has been a great success. I know what you're thinking, "Success?!?! But it doesn't work for me, or my friend Randy. It' only seems to work for Billy over there! We all hate Billy now." That is true. It does not work for everyone all the time. This is somewhat expected. It is "experimental" after all. I'm not a programmer, just a lowly tester, but I can try to explain this fix a bit in my own language.
We've been working very hard for a long while now to nail down what exactly is causing excessive FW lag and desyncs. As explained in a previous post, it's very difficult to do our normal fix-test-fix-test-again process on our internal test servers due to lower then TQ concurrent user numbers. This is why we put together this experiment and asked you all to help us out. Included in the code you activate by editing your prefs.ini file are not only a fix to the most likely bit to be causing problems, but quite a lot of new server logging. This way, we figured, if the code changes didn't correct the problem then the logging would tell us why.
And that is what's been happening. Obviously not everyone is having good luck when trying out the fix. But some are. This tells me that the problem has more than one cause (as we thought it might), but that we're moving in the right direction. Because of your feedback and the additional log information you've all generated we are now evaluating an additional code change in house, to be released very soon. There's no guarantee this is the Silver Bullet for this issue. In fact, this issue probably doesn't have a Silver Bullet. More like a 100 round extended clip of full metal jacketed rounds, sprayed at the target in full auto mode while screaming our loudest and scariest Viking war cry.
I know you all want an excellent FW experience at 100% and you want it right now. So do we. We'll get there. You've got a team of people here at CCP working towards that goal, and because of your help we now count you as part of that team.
Welcome to The Team, now get back to work!

Thanks CCP for responding, however you did not respond to my other question and the question that many of my pilots are asking. Why are you not refunding our lost ships? You know we are suffering with a less than promised (at point of sale) experience, yet you do not refund when petitioned or in some cases you donĘt even reply to the petition. You have posted a reply on here to me and I still have had no answer from my petition re lag from first post. I know itĘs no individuals fault and as earlier stated I believe you feel you are doing your best to resolve the issue, but if you really wanted to resolve the issue you would come experience it first hand. I have read many threads asking you guys to come play in FW, but I have not heard of you actually doing that. Eve time 4pm to7pm is known as lagfest time around the auga to kamela area. Please, I invite you to join one of our fleets and experience our issues first hand.
